Blake Krass breaks down Tuesday’s Love Island USA episode, highlighted by one of the most dramatic recouplings the series has ever seen.
Tuesday night’s episode of Love Island USA was one of the wildest of the season so far. There was one of the most dramatic recouplings in the history of the show, which resulted in some broken hearts and some healed relationships.
Here is what happened on Tuesday night’s episode of Love Island USA.
The last episode finished with a few couples being on the rocks. Aniya and KC were one of the main couples having trouble, and that trouble picked up where it left off in this new episode. KC is tired of “going around in circles,” while Aniya doesn’t feel like she is being appreciated. Meanwhile, Caleb and Corbin are battling for Kenzie’s heart. They are squaring off in the most Love Island way possible, by seeing who can make her the superior breakfast.
Sincere is in a classic pickle that we’ve all experienced, with two loving and beautiful women wanting all of his attention. Life is hard for Sincere, as he decides if he wants to stick with the new spark between him and Sol, or if he wants to go back to Melanie. Meanwhile, Melanie needs to make a similar decision and decide if she is going to pursue her new relationship with Corbin. Between Melanie, Corbin, Sincere, Sol, Kenzie and Caleb, there is a serious love hexagon going on.
The episode went to another level when the islanders were told there would be a recoupling tonight, and the islanders had to pre-write a love letter to the person they wanted to couple up with. That means there will be some people who receive multiple letters, some people who receive no letters and some lucky couples that mutually write letters to each other. This could be a breaking point for some couples, and the moment that brings some couples together at last.
Ariana Madix rolled into the villa like the world’s most mischievous mail carrier to reveal who received a love letter in tonight’s recoupling. If there were a mutual love letter from two parties, they would automatically couple up. If the person a given islander wrote to did not write one back to them, they would become single. Trinity and Bryce were first up, and things started on a positive note. These two, who have been coupled up since the beginning, both wrote love letters to each other and will remain a couple.
Next up were Jen and Gabriel. While this was a new couple that only got together after Beatriz was sent home, they seemed to be getting along great. That was confirmed by the two islanders sending each other some very sweet love letters.
Aniya and KC were next to go. These two have been a couple since the first night. While they have been growing together emotionally, KC has been upset about the lack of physicality in their relationship. Despite the rocky road they had been on, they did write each other some very genuine love letters. This could be the moment that they needed to spark their relationship and take it to the next level.
Kayda and Zach were the final couple to go with no real drama attached. These two are arguably the closest couple in the villa at the moment, confirmed by their trip to the hideaway the other night. It was a surprise to nobody that these two wrote each other a couple of nice notes.
Then, it was time for the drama to begin, with Kenzie and Caleb next to go. It was clear that Caleb would write a letter to Kenzie, but Kenzie was stuck between her new couple and her old flame, Corbin. Kenzie received two love letters, one from Corbin and one from Caleb. Firstly, this meant there would be no letter from Corbin to Melanie. Then, it put the suspense on Caleb opening his mailbox to see if Kenzie had written one to him. Like when you’re waiting for a late-night eBay purchase to arrive, but it got delayed en route, Caleb had a disappointingly empty mailbox.
That means Corbin opened up his mailbox to that letter from Kenzie, but not one from Melanie. That means Kenzie and Corbin are coupled up once again. Additionally, that means that Melanie has written her letter to Sincere, the only guy left to go.
With Sincere being the only guy left, it was clear that Melanie and Sol both wrote their letters to Sincere. However, Sincere only wrote a letter back to one of those two girls. For the sake of drama, Sincere opened his mailbox and unsurprisingly found two letters. They were both genuinely heartfelt letters from the two girls vying for his attention. It was time for Sol to open her mailbox, in which she only found some dust and a broken heart. Meanwhile, Melanie got everything she had ever wanted: a declaration of love from Sincere.
While Sol and Caleb were not only heartbroken, they were concerned this could be the end of their Love Island journey as they were both left single. However, instead, Ariana Madix revealed that the two would be coupled up together. It was then revealed that there would be a vote for America’s favorite couple on the Love Island app. This vote is sure to have major consequences for a future episode.
The episode ended on a very somber note, with a dedication to Love Island executive producer James Barker, who tragically passed away after a medical emergency in Fiji last week while working on the show.
There were no dumpings tonight.
