Besides Game 1, the under has cashed in each of the last four games of the TB-MTL series. I do expect a bit more offense in this one, given the win-or-go-home situation for Tampa Bay, but these goaltenders can stand tall when asked to. It’s been a relatively poor series for both starting goaltenders, but the defenses in front of them are playing very well and limiting high-danger chances.
Considering that the series has been very competitive, backing the Canadiens to cover the Puck Line for the 30th (!) straight game as underdogs seems like the right move. Montreal has the home-ice advantage and simply plays better when it’s an underdog. In fact, the Habs have won seven of their last eight games as underdogs, and they should be hard-pressed to get this series over with and move on to the next round.
This postseason, Guenther has been uber-aggressive in the shot department, ranking second in shots and fourth in shots on goal. Realistically, he’s been the most productive shooter this postseason among all teams, considering the players ranked above him in both categories each have six games under their belts. Guenther has averaged a healthy 5.2 shots on goal and 11.0 shot attempts per game this series, and Utah enters Game 6 with its back against the wall. Considering he has scored three times this series, I’d expect even more aggression from Guenther out of the gate.
