Ryan Wohl details his best bet for Emiliano Vargas vs. Bryce Mills at tonight’s massive boxing event in Brooklyn, New York.
The co-main event of tonight’s highly anticipated Xander Zayas vs. Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis card is between Emiliano Vargas and Bryce Mills. In this fight, the WBC USA Silver, WBO Latino, and NABF Jr. Super Lightweight titles are on the line. The Main Card for this event is expected to start at 8:30 p.m. ET on DAZN.
Check out my pick for Emiliano Vargas vs. Bryce Mills below.
Emiliano Vargas is the son of Fernando Vargas, the former Light Middleweight Champion. Vargas enters this fight with an undefeated record of 17-0 with 14 wins by knockout. He is coming off a ninth-round victory against Agustin Quintana in February. Mills, 24, is 22-1 and has won 16 straight fights since his lone loss.
Although Vargas has fewer fights than Mills, he has more high-level experience. Mills has scored two consecutive knockouts, but they were against Julio Rosa, who is 11-7, and Tobias Green, who is 12-4-1. On BoxRec, Vargas is ranked No. 23, which is 19 spots ahead of Mills.
Vargas is a massive -1400 favorite in this contest while Mills is a +700 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. This contest has an over/under of 8.5 rounds, with the over being -195 and the under being +140. Vargas is also -120 to win by decision and +125 to score a knockout. Vargas has been very aggressive lately, winning six of his previous seven contests by knockout. With that said, I’m taking Vargas at +125 to win by KO/TKO/DQ against Mills.
