Mitchell has been underwhelming as a playmaker in this series vs. the Raptors. The guard is averaging just 3.3 assists on 7.5 potential assists per game. Mitchell has fallen short of 4.5 assists in all but one of these six matchups vs. Toronto.
The main reason for this is the presence of James Harden. Ever since the former MVP joined the Cavaliers at the trade deadline, Mitchell is averaging 4.8 assists per game in the contests he has played alongside Harden. With Harden on the floor, Mitchell’s assist rate drops 6.9 percentage points to 18.9%.
While Mitchell may have a big scoring outing in Game 7, he should have another subpar showing as a facilitator and stay under 4.5 assists.
