Wednesday’s slate features a full schedule of games, highlighted by Dylan Cease’s strikeout upside for Toronto, Shota Imanaga’s steady run for the Cubs, and Jacob Misiorowski bringing elite swing-and-miss stuff into Milwaukee’s matchup with San Diego.
Fried allowed five runs in a start for the second time this season in his last outing against the Brewers. Bradish struck out a season-high 10 hitters in his last outing against the Athletics through seven innings.
Detmers has been getting unlucky, indicated by his 4.33 ERA and an xERA of 2.90 with a 3.09 FIP. Messick continues to be one of the Guardians’ best starters, posting a 2.30 ERA with a xERA of 3.06 and a 2.82 FIP.
Quintana has allowed just four runs over his last three starts, spanning 17 innings. Keller has gone at least six innings in three of his last four starts while allowing no more than two runs in three of them.
Irvin is striking out a batter per inning through eight starts, which is well beyond his career 7.1 K/9. Lodolo made his season debut last week, tossing 5.1 innings against the Astros, allowing four runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
Painter’s struggles continued in his last start, allowing eight runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings against the Athletics. Gray is a regression candidate, as his 3.54 ERA doesn’t match his 5.45 xERA and 4.30 FIP.
Jax has only thrown 18 innings but has allowed 10 walks and three home runs over that span. Cease recorded double-digit strikeouts for the third time this season in his last outing against the Angels.
Valdez will make his first start after serving a suspension for intentionally hitting Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story. He allowed seven runs on nine hits in that game. Scott will be making his fourth start and has allowed a total of four runs on six hits through 11 innings.
Imanaga hasn’t allowed more than one earned run in six of his eight starts this season.
Lugo has been hit hard over his last three starts, allowing 13 runs on 29 hits through 16.1 innings. Schultz allowed seven runs to the Angels in his last start, which lasted 3.2 innings.
Meyer hasn’t allowed more than two runs in four straight starts while striking out 25. Woods Richardson has been almost as bad as advertised with a 6.92 ERA, a 5.74 xERA and a 6.19 FIP.
King has been extremely tough on lefties, posting a .236 wOBA with a 3.43 FIP and a 24% K%. Misiorowski upped his K/9 to 14.3 after striking out 11 Yankees through six innings the last time out.
Even with allowing just two runs over his last 12.1 innings, Nelson still owns a 5.68 ERA with a 5.07 xERA. Rocker has an xERA of at least 7.09 in three straight starts.
Miller will make his season debut after starting the year on the injured list with an oblique injury. McCullers Jr. has endured some bad luck this season with a 7.41 ERA and a xERA of 4.50.
As a starter, Ginn has a 3.25 ERA with a 4.44 FIP and an 8.1 K/9.
Ray has been seeing his strikeout numbers increase, as he’s struck out at least five in three of his last four starts. Ohtani has yet to allow more than two runs in a start through his first six starts.
