Garion Thorne details his picks for DraftKings MLB Grand Slam Payout promotion on tonight’s slate.
DraftKings has a new promotion dropping on Friday. It’s the MLB Grand Slam Payout.
The concept is simple. Opt-in and get a MLB Grand Slam Payout token. Use that token on a single wager or for a parlay on a player to hit a home run, and if that home runs ends up being a grand slam, receive a share of $250,000 in bonus bets — or more!
That begs the question: Who is hitting a grand slam tonight? Well, as always, I have my predictions and my leans. Let’s break a couple picks down.
I think the secret sauce I’m looking for with these picks is a middle-of-the-order bat with pop, who is going up against a pitcher that doesn’t just have home run issues, but also can’t stop handing out free passes. Remember, we need a grand slam here. Not simply a long ball. The potential for traffic on the base paths in a must. Well, it’s Day 1, but I think I’ve already found my perfect Grand Slam Payout scenario.
A career-high 2.00 GB/FB ratio has sapped some of Randy Arozarena’s power in the early going of 2026, yet the veteran outfielder has five straight seasons with at least 20 home runs. He’s not suddenly Luis Arraez. More importantly, both of Arozarena’s long balls have come off of left-handed opponents, as the 31-year-old is slashing .346/.419/.538 with a 171 wRC+ within the split. Guess what? Cole Ragans is an LHP. Ragans is also in possession of a third percentile opponent barrel rate (17.2%) and an eighth percentile walk rate (15.7%). He’s given up as many home runs in six starts in this season (7) as he did in 13 starts in 2025. You have my attention, sir.
Did you know that no team has loaded the bases as often as the Twins in 2026? Heck, it’s not even all that close. Minnesota has 50 at-bats with the bases juiced so far this season. Only two other teams — the Cubs and the Brewers — are even over 40 at-bats in this situation. Is most of this happenstance and odd sequencing? Sure. But to me, it’s just another reason to pick against Patrick Corbin on tonight’s slate.
Corbin has somehow survived four starts with the Blue Jays after signing a $1 million contract in early April. Still, while a 3.72 ERA looks harmless enough on the surface, the veteran southpaw’s 5.89 xERA is far more telling. Remember, from 2021 to 2025, no pitcher in baseball conceded more long balls than Corbin (143). It’s something he’s quite adept at doing. Meanwhile, Ryan Jeffers has hit LHPs very well throughout his career, with a .204 ISO and a 139 wRC+ within the split. The one home run Jeffers has against a lefty in 2026? You’d better believe it’s Patrick Corbin. That was a three-run shot. Let’s hope the sacks are drunk this time around.
