Alex Hunter details his top Tyrese Maxey player prop for Monday’s NBA playoff game between the 76ers and the Knicks.
The 76ers and Knicks begin their second-round series Monday night with Game 1 in New York. The Knicks are favored by 7.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook, with the game total set at 213.5 points.
Let’s dive into my favorite Tyrese Maxey player prop for Monday’s contest.
Despite facing a stout Celtics’ defense that features one of the NBA’s top defensive guards in Derrick White, Maxey flourished in the first round. The star guard averaged 26.9 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 46% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc. Maxey handled a 27.5% usage rate, led the 76ers with 40.9 minutes per game, and cleared 35.5 PRA in five of the seven contests against Boston.
Maxey now faces the Knicks, who also have a strong defense. But with a weak defender in Jalen Brunson at the helm, New York can be valuable against point guards. Maxey made this abundantly clear during the regular season, averaging 30 points, 5.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds on 51% shooting across four games with the Knicks. He topped 35.5 PRA in three of the matchups, shooting 77.8% from the field when matched up with Brunson.
New York likely will try to hide Brunson on Kelly Oubre Jr., but Maxey should still see a decent amount of Brunson. Nevertheless, expect Maxey to carry over the momentum from the opening round and put up another great stat line in Game 1.
