Alex Hunter analyzes the odds on who will lead the NBA Finals between the Spurs and Knicks in assists on DraftKings Sportsbook.
The Spurs and Knicks meet in the NBA Finals and this series will begin Wednesday with Game 1 in San Antonio. On DraftKings Sportsbook, there is a ton of markets for this anticipated series, including who will lead the NBA Finals in assists.

Stephon Castle is the best option in this market and it’s surprising he carries plus-money odds. Castle was great as a playmaker in the regular season and this has carried over to the postseason.
The UConn product is averaging 6.7 assists per game, which is the best among the players competing in the NBA Finals. Jalen Brunson is right behind Castle at 6.6, but when we take a deeper dive, Castle’s role as a facilitator is stronger than Brunson’s.
Castle is averaging 12.4 potential assists per game, whereas Brunson is averaging 10.4. Castle is also handling a 37.7% assist rate compared to a 32.7% rate for Brunson.
Castle at +120 is the best wager in this assist market, but if looking for a bet with longer odds, taking a chance on De’Aaron Fox at +700 makes sense. Fox is averaging 5.9 assists on 10.6 potential assists per game during these playoffs.
The veteran missed two games in the Western Conference Finals, but with Fox and Castle both healthy for the first two rounds of these playoffs, Castle only produced three more assists than Fox. In the Spurs’ first round series vs. the Trail Blazers, Fox bested Castle by four assists.
