Today’s slate features a full schedule of games, highlighted by Jack Leiter taking on the Athletics and Max Friend against the Angels.
Griffin’s luck is going to run out at some point, as his 5.09 xERA looms large over his 1.76 ERA. Meanwhile, Ashcraft has been as good as advertised, with his 2.12 ERA, an xERA of 2.19 and a 10.5 K/9.
Roupp has been great at generating ground balls thus far, at a rate of 54.3%. He’ll oppose Burns, who has a 9.9 K/9 through his first three starts.
Bubic dominated the White Sox in his last time out, tossing seven shutout innings, allowing only two hits and striking out 11. He’ll oppose Montero, who is coming off a shutout of his own through six innings against the Marlins.
Fried has yet to allow a home run through his first four starts, spanning 28 innings.
Corbin was atrocious in his Blue Jays debut, allowing four runs on six hits, including two home runs, through four innings against the Twins. He’ll oppose Sporat, who will start but likely be used as an extended opener.
At least in the early going, Matz has seen impressive strikeout numbers, posting a 9.5 K/9 through 16 innings. Kay’s 2.45 ERA is miles away from his xERA of 7.25.
Leiter has been racking up strikeouts, posting a massive 12.8 K/9 with a 17% swing-and-miss rate through 14.2 innings. Lopez has struggled mightily with his command, issuing 13 free passes through 13.1 innings.
Baz has been serviceable but not great through three starts. He has a 4.50 ERA with an xERA of 4.00 and a 3.66 FIP. Messick, meanwhile, has been nearly untouchable. He’s allowed just one run through 17.2 innings.
As he did last year, Sugano is allowing home runs in a high rate, with three given up through 16.2 innings. He’ll face McCullers, who allowed six runs on five hits through 4.1 innings against the Mariners in his last start.
After shutting out the Yankees in his first start, Castillo has allowed 10 runs through seven innings in two starts since. He’ll face Buehler, who shutout the Rockies through six innings his last time out.
