There will be two games on the NBA slate tonight. This pair of Game 2’s will tip off at 7 PM EST in Madison Square Garden as the Knicks host the 76ers. The Spurs will host the Timberwolves at 9:30 PM EST.
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the action this evening. One of the more unique features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Basketball!
This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for tonight’s slate. We simply choose whether a player will record more or less of the set statistic. Here are my favorite plays for tonight’s action.
The entirety of the Sixers squad had a disappointing Game 1, with Paul George leading them with 17 points. While I’m not convinced that this game will go any better for the Sixers, especially without their star big man Joel Embiid, I do think that Tyrese Maxey can have a triumphant bounce back effort. Maxey only shot 33% in Game 1 but without Embiid, his usage figures to go up by a decent bit. Maxey had a big first round against Boston, averaging 26.9 PPG on 46% shooting from the field while Embiid missed three games.
In the opener, a 104–102 Wolves win, Wemby scored 11 points on 5/17 shooting and 0/8 from 3 in 40 minutes. It wasn’t a random cold night as much as Minnesota consistently taking away the easy stuff, with Rudy Gobert as the anchor and extra physicality from the Wolves’ front line to put Wemby into some tough spots. If that same coverage holds him to contested jumpers again without sending him to the foul line, it’s hard to get to 27 without an unusually hot shooting night.
There’s also a slight energy problem potentially at play: Wemby spent Game 1 carrying a massive defensive burden with an official 12 blocks, which is a playoff record (there were some questionable goal tends as well). Given Wemby’s responsibility for anchoring San Antonio’s defense, it may be prudent to expect a muted offensive output again tonight.
Even in the aforementioned brutal shooting night in Game 1, Wemby still generated five assists in 40 minutes because Minnesota’s Gobert-led coverage crowded his catches and forced him to make plays out of traffic. That same defensive attention is exactly what creates assist chances for someone who typically doesn’t generate big assist numbers. When the Wolves shade extra bodies towards him, and they have to given his size, Wemby’s able to kick out to shooters like Devin Vassell and Justin Champagnie. This bar is also reasonable relative to his normal role: he averaged 3.1 APG in the regular season.
Pick6 is a peer-to-peer fantasy variant where you build a lineup (your “Pick Set”) of at least two players and select whether you believe each will outperform their listed stat projection. Enter your Pick Set in Pick6 contests to compete against other users. Get enough picks correct and win a share of cash prizes.
Create a Pick Set by choosing 2+ players from the same sport and Pick Group (a set of picks available from a group of set competitions). For each player, simply select if you think they’ll have more or less than their listed stat projection. In each Pick Set, you cannot pick the same player twice and you must select players from at least two different teams.
Once you finalize your Pick Set, choose your entry fee amount. Your entries will be automatically distributed into available contests, subject to your confirmation.
When the games go live, use the My Picks tab to follow your picks in real time to track how your players are performing against their projections and how they stack up against other users.
