The Texas Rangers take on the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight at 8:05 p.m. ET, but there’s been a major change on the lineup card with a few hours to go until first pitch.

Star RHP Nathan Eovaldi has been scratched from Monday’s scheduled start due to left side tightness.

In his place, RHP Jakob Junis will open for the Rangers.

Eovaldi had a very rough start to his 2026 season and is only just now seeing his numbers tick back toward what we saw from him last year, when he pitched to the tune of an incredible 1.73 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. Through seven starts this season, he has a 4.15 ERA and 1.17 WHIP, striking out 47 hitters in 47.2 IP. His xERA and xBA are still relatively poor, but his chase and whiff rates are both bordering on the elite range as he gets back to form.

Texas has a 19-21 record on the year but remains firmly in the AL West mix thanks to a weak division. As things stand, the Rangers are only 2.0 games shy of first place.
