Ryan Wohl details his best bet for Alexander Volkov vs. Waldo Cortes Acosta at UFC 328 in Newark.
The third fight on the UFC 328 Main Card is between two top-five Heavyweight contenders, No. 2 Alexander Volkov and No. 4 Waldo Cortes Acosta. With Alex Pereira taking on Ciryl Gane for the Interim title in June, the Heavyweight division is heating up. Volkov is 4-1 in his previous five contests, with his lone loss in that span coming against Gane. In 2025, Cortes-Acosta became one of the biggest rising stars in the UFC as he went 5-1 with four knockouts.
Check out my best bet below for Alexander Volkov vs. Waldo Cortes Acosta at UFC 328.
Cortes-Acosta is on a three-fight winning streak, with all of them coming by knockout. He last beat Derrick Lewis in January at UFC 324. Volkov last beat Jailton Almeida by split decision at UFC 321 in October 2025. The winner of this contest would firmly put themselves in the mix for a title shot in the future.
In this contest, Volkov is the favorite at -125 while Cortes-Acosta is a +105 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. This fight features two elite strikers. As he normally does, Volkov has the height (6’7″ vs. 6’4″) and reach (80″ vs. 78″) advantage in this contest. Cortes-Acosta averages more significant strikes per minute, but Volkov is more efficient.
Even though Volkov is taller, I think Cortes-Acosta will be able to break him down with his pressure and volume on the feet. Volkov has been passive recently, but I don’t think he will be able to produce enough offense against Cortes-Acosta.
