Zach Thompson details his picks for DraftKings MLB Grand Slam Payout promotion on today’s slate.
DraftKings has a new promotion in May. It’s the MLB Grand Slam Payout.
The concept is simple. Opt-in and get a MLB Grand Slam Payout token. Use that token on a single wager or for a parlay on a player to hit a home run, and if that home runs ends up being a grand slam, receive a share of $250,000 in bonus bets — or more!
Major League Baseball as a whole is on a grand slam heater, with three consecutive days featuring a grand slam. After no grand slams for the first five days of the month, CJ Abrams of the Nationals delivered a grand slam on Wednesday, Jake McCarthy of the Rockies smashed a grand slam on Thursday, and Luke Raley of the Mariners hit a homer with the bases juiced in Chicago on Friday. Is it possible we see a grand slam for a FOURTH straight day?
Let’s dive in and break down some picks.
The Marlins are hosting the Nationals this weekend, and on Saturday, they have one of the best matchups for home runs in all of baseball. Zack Littell has been the gift that keeps on giving to home run props over the last few seasons. In 2025, the righty served up 36 homers in 32 starts, the second-most in the majors. This year, he’s taken it to another level, allowing 13 homers in just 32 1/3 innings. He has the highest HR/9 on the board this Saturday by a wide margin and has a 14.0% barrel rate against him this year. The biggest concern facing Littell is that he might give up too many home runs before the Marlins can load the bases against him.
Hicks leads the Marlins with nine homers on the season, more than twice the total of any other Marlins hitter. He is on the strong side of the splits against Littell since lefties have 10 of the 13 homers he has allowed this year, posting a .750 SLG and .479 wOBA against him in the split. Hicks has five homers in his last 12 games with a 45.2% hard-hit rate and 12.9% barrel rate, and if he hits in his customary fifth spot in the lineup, the Marlins could get the bases loaded before they even get to him the first time through the lineup. With such a juicy matchup against Littell, Hicks is a solid option for the Grand Slam Payout Picks from the afternoon slate.
For the night slate, let’s head to Texas, where the Rangers will send Jack Leiter to the mound against the red-hot Cubs, who have won 10 games in a row. The Cubs have scored at least seven runs in three straight games and have averaged 5.9 runs per game during their winning streak. Leiter has a high strikeout rate and has had a few good starts but comes into this start with a 5.45 ERA and 4.45 FIP along with a 1.37 WHIP. He gave up three homers to the Yankees in his last home start and has allowed seven homers in his seven games this season. Lefties have hit four of those seven homers and have a .458 SLG and a .362 wOBA.
PCA had 31 homers last season, with 24 of them against righties like Leiter and a .353 wOBA in the split. This year, he has only had four homers in 39 games, but three of them have come in his last 10 games. He has a 46.7% hard-hit rate and 16.7% barrel rate in those 10 games and has five barrels in those 10 games after only four barrels in his first 29 games this season. PCA typically hits near the bottom of the order, which gives plenty of time and chances for the Cubs to load the bases in front of him, and his flair for the dramatic makes him a nice sleeper play for the Grand Slam Payout this Saturday.
