Cleveland Cavaliers at New York Knicks

The Cavs and Knicks meet for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, following one of the most outrageous comebacks in NBA Playoff history. Trailing by 22 points with less than eight minutes remaining in the game, the Knicks were 80-1 on the moneyline at DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Knicks came all the way back to force overtime, where they not only won, but covered at 6.5-point favorites. But for this article I’m looking at a Same Game Parlay on a couple of player props.

I’m targeting a player on each team in the 3-pointers market that I feel should see some good opportunity in Game 2. For the Cavs, that’s Sam Merrill, who played 28 minutes off the bench in Game 1. Cleveland hoisted 50 times from deep in Game 1, and while it might look to cut volume there a bit, Merrill likely won’t be one of those players.

Nearly all of Merrill’s volume comes from downtown, where he shot 3-of-8 in Game 1. The Knicks will continue to key in on Donovan Mitchell and James Harden, which should leave shooters like Merrill open for good looks like we saw on Tuesday. Merrill has hit at least two 3-pointers in five straight games, and I think he should extend that streak on Thursday.

For the Knicks, I’m backing Landry Shamet to just make one triple. Shamet was crucial to the comeback in Game 1, going 3-for-3 from downtown, including the big one to tie the game late in regulation. Shamet played the crunch time minutes over Josh Hart, and clearly earned himself a role in this series. Shamet has knocked down nine total 3-pointers in his last three games, and has made a three in six of the seven playoff games that he’s played 10 or more minutes.

I see him getting those minutes again in Game 2 after how effective he was early in this series. That should create plenty of chances for Shamet to knock one down for us.
