Cooper Albers provides his top Kyle Schwarber prop bet for Monday’s MLB game between the Phillies and the Nationals.
It’s going down in the NL East, as the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals kick off a four-game set on Monday night at Nationals Park.
The Phillies (42–35, 2nd NL East) took two of three from the Nationals (40–38, 3rd NL East) at Citizens Bank earlier this season, and they head into the rematch riding the scalding-hot bat of MLB home run leader Kyle Schwarber.
First pitch is at 6:45 p.m. ET. The Nationals enter as 1.5-run home favorites with -126 moneyline odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Phillies are +104 underdogs, with the game total set at O/U 9.5 runs.
Let’s dive into the top Kyle Schwarber prop bet for Monday’s series opener.
While Bryce Harper’s first career cycle on Saturday sparked heated debate throughout the league, Kyle Schwarber left no doubt with his flurry of big swings. The reigning National League MVP runner-up crushed three home runs in Philadelphia’s 15–3 drubbing of the Mets. Then, as if to sneak one last jab after the bell against the division rival, Schwarber went yard again on Sunday — raising his season total to 29, back on pace to tie Roger Maris at 61 bombs.
Schwarber, 33, mashes in any setting, whether it be the All-Star Game, the World Series, the World Baseball Classic, or a random night in the middle of June.
Naturally, same-side pitching matchups have done little to slow him down. Indeed, the lefty slugger has been even more effective against southpaws this season, hitting .294 with a 1.036 OPS and 16 extra-base hits, including 10 home runs, in 129 plate appearances.
On Monday, Schwarber will take some hacks against Washington lefty Foster Griffin, who has impressed with a 3.32 ERA this season. However, the 30-year-old hurler has struggled to miss barrels and eschew the long ball with his 91 mph meatball of a four-seamer. Griffin has surrendered 15 bombs this season — including 10 in his last eight starts — and ranks ninth in MLB in home runs per nine innings (1.61).
Monday’s series opener should be business as usual for the superstar slugger.
