Zach Thompson dives into Friday night’s 10-game MLB slate to find three value options for your DraftKings lineups.
The MLB has an action-packed Friday night, with 20 teams in the player pool for the main MLB DFS contest, which begins at 7:05 p.m. ET. It’s a slate stacked with aces, as many teams are headed into their weekend series with their best pitcher on the mound. It should be an exciting slate, so check out these three MLB DFS value picks that come with major upside despite their lower salaries.
As usual at this point in the season, the weather is an important factor to consider, with snow potentially during the day in Denver and extremely cold temperatures in both Colorado and Minnesota. Even though there are some very expensive options in play on both offense and the mound, there are also some strong value plays available.
Let’s dive in and take a look at a few of the best value plays this Friday:

Of the probable pitchers for Friday night, Soroka is one of the best values on the board. He and the Diamondbacks are back in Arizona after a nine-game road trip out east. Soroka has posted 32.2, 14.4, and 23.4 FPTS across his first three starts of the season. He has 23 strikeouts in his 15.2 innings, along with a pair of 10-K performances.
Although the Blue Jays minimize strikeouts, Soroka still has a high ceiling for an option under $8,000 — especially with a strong chance at a win against the struggling Eric Lauer ($7,700).
While Soroka’s last start didn’t begin well — allowing a four-spot in the first inning — he settled down and still delivered 5.2 innings with 10 strikeouts for 23.4 FPTS. Toronto’s offense sits in MLB’s bottom 10 in runs, homers, and wOBA, so it’s not nearly as formidable a matchup as it would have been last October.
The Yankees have been using Caballero as their everyday shortstop this season while Anthony Volpe (shoulder) ramps up for his season debut around May 1. Caballero has averaged 7.2 FPTS per game on the season and has been heating up lately, delivering both at the plate and on the basepaths.
Caballero has three multi-hit games in his last six contests, going 8-for-23 with a home run, three doubles, and three stolen bases during that stretch. He has averaged 12.3 FPTS per game over that span, with a high point of 28 FPTS by way of a 2-for-5 effort against the Angels. Caballero has struggled on the road but been productive at home, where he and the Yankees open a three-game set Friday night against Michael Wacha ($8,300) and the Royals.
If you opt to pay up for other positions and want to go cheap at shortstop, Caballero brings a high ceiling in a strong lineup with several ways to deliver high fantasy numbers.
The White Sox promoted Antonacci after the 23-year-old lefty’s hot start in Triple-A. MLB Pipeline rated Antonacci the No. 9 prospect in the White Sox system coming into the year, but he hit .313 with two homers, a .458 wOBA, and five stolen bases in his first 14 games for the Charlotte Knights to earn his call-up.
He is expected to play in the outfield most of the time for Chicago, but he’s eligible at two infield spots for Friday’s matchup with Aaron Civale ($7,400) and the Athletics. Antonacci had 7 FPTS in his big-league debut on Wednesday, going 1-for-3 with a single, a walk, and a run scored. He went 0-for-4 on Thursday, but he has the potential to be an outstanding value at the minimum salary — especially on Friday, playing at Sacramento’s hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park with a light breeze blowing out.
He’ll be on the strong side of the splits against Civale, who surrendered a .342 wOBA to lefties last season across time with the Brewers, White Sox, and Cubs.
