The Boys is in the endgame now. Sam Connon breaks down everything you need to know about the superhero show before Season 5 Episode 7 hits Prime Video.
The Boys Season 5 just took a massive swing with only two episodes to go. No one is safe from the whims of Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who keep pushing the story forward and killing off major players ahead of the much-anticipated finale.
If you are eager to see how The Boys sets up its final act, here is everything you need to know before Season 5 Episode 7 premieres:
Season 5 Episode 7 will premiere on Prime Video at 3 a.m. ET on Wednesday, May 13. The episode, which is titled The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk, is expected to have a runtime around 1 hour.
The fifth season, like the previous four, will consist of eight episodes. The series finale will air on May 20.
(Warning: Spoilers for The Boys Season 5 Episode 6 ahead.)
The Boys once again expanded its sprawling ensemble cast last week, on top of bringing back a one-off character from Season 3. There are some impending crossovers from Gen V to look forward to, as well, all while the show winds down and loses key figures left and right. Here is a look at who could be in the cast for Season 5 Episode 7:
Well, so much for the virus.
Soldier Boy willingly handed the V-One over to Homelander, despite Sage’s plan playing out perfectly up to that point. Instead of the ageless super soldier destroying the vile and preventing his son from becoming immortal, Soldier Boy thought Stormfront would have wanted Homelander to live forever. And now that the V-One is in his veins, Homelander is presumably immune to the virus that the Boys cooked up, just like Soldier Boy was. We’re not even sure if Soldier Boy’s V-frying power would work on the V-One, either. Homelander is now one step closer to becoming the God he claims he is, with Oh Father set to hard-launch his divine status to the public. With nothing left to stop him – and the title of Episode 7 mentioning three original members of the Boys by name – I can see the body count rising.
At the same time, Soldier Boy, The Deep and Oh Father are seemingly the only ones still on Homelander’s side. Stan Edgar, Ashley and Sage are all working against him, while A-Train, Firecracker and the replacement Noir are all dead. So although the Boys could take some losses, they have plenty of allies and reinforcements to turn to.
To many fans’ dismay, a solid chunk of the past few episodes has been dedicated to setting the stage for Vought Rising – a prequel series coming to Prime Video in 2027. Jensen Ackles will return as Soldier Boy, as will Mason Dye as Bombsight and Aya Cash as Stormfront. So if you’re wondering why we’ve spent so much time in that little bubble this season, that is a big reason why. Hopefully, all of that setup is in the rear-view mirror and we can go all-in on The Boys with only two hours of the mothership show remaining.
That being said, the Gen V crew is slated to cameo at some point this season. That will either be in the penultimate episode, the finale, or maybe both, so keep an eye out for Marie Moreau & co. popping up sooner rather than later.
The Boys Season 5 Episode 7 will premiere at 3 a.m. ET on Wednesday, May 13. The following episode, which is the finale, will drop on May 20.
Season 5 is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. The first four seasons are also available on the streaming service if you are looking to catch up, as are both seasons of Gen V.
The show’s creators have confirmed that there will not be another season of The Boys after Season 5. However, there are multiple spinoffs in the works. While Gen V was canceled after two seasons, prequel series Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico are both in development. Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy is confirmed to be returning for Vought Rising, which is set to release in 2027.
