Brendan O’Sullivan provides the opening odds for the Detroit Lions vs. New Orleans Saints 2026 Week 1 NFL matchup.
Football is only a few months away, and regular season schedule release day is a checkpoint toward the glorious Sunday watch parties with friends and families. Week 1 is unique in that the season kicks off with a Wednesday night Super Bowl rematch.
Sunday, however, features a typical full slate. The Lions and Saints will be one of the eight 1 p.m. ET games. Opening odds for this matchup are live, and it’s never too early to take a look.
Here are the opening odds of Lions vs. Saints on DraftKings Sportsbook for Week 1 of the 2026 NFL regular season.
The Lions open as seven-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Saints are +260 underdogs, with the total set at 48.5.

Admittedly, the Lions vs. Saints game isn’t the most attention-grabbing matchup of the 1 p.m. slate. That said, it can still provide some excellent game script.
Detroit is coming off a disappointing 9-8 season, in which it fell to fourth in the NFC North. This isn’t too different of a squad that went 15-2, although the backfield duo split up with David Montgomery heading to Houston. Nonetheless, Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Amon-Ra St. Brown headline a fierce offense.
The Saints were 6-11, which was last in the NFC South. Not a pretty season, but also better than expected. Tyler Shough, a second round rookie in 2025, performed well after taking over the starting job. The team saw some much-needed development from the quarterback position, giving the franchise some chance at growth in 2026.
