Guard

Stud

James Harden, Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons ($8,000)

Over the last two games, Harden shot 38% and 35% from the field. He still scored 30 and 24 points because he attempted 21 and 14 shots but, more importantly, went 20-of-23 from the line. That translated to 51.5 and 55.5 FPTS. And that is when you know Harden is locked in, when he’s not just settling for step back treys, but attacking the paint, breaking down defenses and either dishing out dimes or drawing fouls. Can Harden fulfill the narrative of Playoff Choker Harden? Sure, anything can happen in one game, but Harden can still ball and his across-the-board contributions are lovely. The price, usage and playing time provide a nice trifecta. If the ownership swings too far in favor of Harden at the expense of Donovan Mitchell, then I’d pivot to Mitchell.

Other Options: Cade Cunningham ($10,500), Donovan Mitchell ($8,500), Anthony Edwards ($8,200), Stephon Castle ($7,000), Ayo Dosunmu ($6,100)

Value

Daniss Jenkins, Detroit Pistons at Cleveland Cavaliers ($4,900)

Jenkins got the start in Game 5 because Duncan Robinson was out due to a back issue. He played 41 minutes and produced 19 points, two rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal, good for 33 FPTS. And that’s with a usage rate of only 19%. Robinson is questionable for this one, but even if he plays, I’m skeptical that he’d be effective because back issues are no joke and take time to heal. Obviously, if Robinson does start, then pivoting to Dylan Harper is the likely best path.

Other Options: Dylan Harper ($5,500), Max Strus ($4,600)

Forward

Stud

Evan Mobley, Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Detroit Pistons ($7,500)

It took a few games, but Mobley looks more comfortable at both ends of the floor. After failing to score more than 14 points, he’s put up 17 and 19 points in the last two contests while being a beast on defense, racking up eight blocks and four steals. That’s been good for 49.5 and 48 FPTS.

Other Options: Tobias Harris ($7,200)

Value

Devin Vassell, San Antonio Spurs at Minnesota Timberwolves ($5,200)

If you want ceiling, you best look somewhere else. If it’s a floor you’re looking for, you’ve come to the right place. Vassell is athletic with good size at 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, and his defense is good, so he won’t get hunted and played off the court. In addition, he converts around 38% of his hoists from downtown, and surrounding The Alien with shooters is paramount. In this series, Vassell has put up over 20 FPTS in every contest with a high of 33.8 FPTS. He’s attempted double-digit shots in all but one game, but that’s because he only played 22 minutes in the 38-point blowout.

Other Options: Jaden McDaniels ($6,000), Naz Reid ($5,900), Julian Champagnie ($4,800), Max Strus ($4,600)

Center

Stud

Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio Spurs at Minnesota Timberwolves ($10,700)

Wembanyama can access a ceiling that is likely unattainable by anyone else on the slate. He scored 39 points in Game 3, blocked 12 shots in Game 1 and has grabbed at least 15 rebounds in four of the five games! He’s finished with over 60 FPTS in three contests with a high of 73.8 FPTS. The floor/ceiling combo isn’t on the level of Nikola Jokic yet, but he is always in play to put up a “had-to-have-it” score, and raw points are especially important on small slates.

Other Options: Evan Mobley ($7,500), Jarrett Allen ($6,200)

Value

Paul Reed, Detroit Pistons at Cleveland Cavaliers ($4,200)

Reed did not play in the first two games of the series. In Game 3, though, he received 10 minutes and put up 14.2 FPTS. In Game 4, he played 14 minutes and produced 25 FPTS. In Game 5, he closed the game and finished with 17 minutes, contributing 25 FPTS. Jalen Duren has struggled while Reed has provided energy and some semblance of shooting and offensive prowess. Duren isn’t going to suddenly start knocking down jumpers, so Reed should once again be a factor. It’s just a matter of how much run he gets.

Other Options: Naz Reid ($5,900)
