Alex Hunter gives his top NBA DFS lineup advice for Wednesday’s NBA Showdown contest on DraftKings between the Thunder and Spurs.
The Western Conference Finals continue Wednesday night with Game 2 in Oklahoma City. In Game 1, the Spurs won in an overtime thriller, 122-115.
With the win in Game 1, the Spurs are impressively 5-1 vs. the defending champion Thunder this season. These two contenders boast nearly the same net rating this postseason, with San Antonio at +14.4 and Oklahoma City at +14. The Thunder are a league-best 38-8 at home and the club is 13-5 after a loss this season, but there’s no denying the Spurs have had the Thunder’s number, so Game 2 should be another exciting battle of these powerhouses.
After missing Game 1, De’Aaron Fox (ankle) is questionable for Game 2.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Oklahoma City is favored by 6.5 points for Game 2 and this contest carries a total of 216.5 points.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($15,900) – Gilgeous-Alexander barely left the floor in Game 1, logging 51.1 minutes in the overtime classic, resulting in 58.25 FPTS for the guard. Coming off the Thunder’s first loss of the postseason, Gilgeous-Alexander is going to see huge minutes again in Game 2, likely 40+. The two-time MVP should produce another big fantasy score as Oklahoma City looks to avoid an alarming 0-2 deficit in this series.
Gilgeous-Alexander has scored 55.25 and 58.25 FPTS in his last two matchups vs. the Spurs and this season. The superstar is generating 1.5 FPTS per minute with a mammoth 33.5% usage rate. Gilgeous-Alexander has fallen short of 50 FPTS in 7-of-9 starts this postseason, but the Thunder cruised through the first two rounds. Tonight’s Game 2 is by far the most pivotal matchup they have played during these playoffs. Gilgeous-Alexander should put his team on his back and he is the top player to roster at captain for this Showdown slate.
Victor Wembanyama ($12,600) – Wembanyama made headlines in the Game 1 win with an incredible performance, erupting for 84.25 FPTS in 48 minutes while shooting 14-of-25 from the field. The superstar has now scored over 60 FPTS in 5-of-11 starts during his first playoff run. Wembanyama is scoring a whopping 1.8 FPTS per minute this season, and while the Thunder should have a new game plan to slow down Wembanyama, I don’t expect them to be overly successful. Wembanyama is unlikely to put up over 80 FPTS again, but him topping 60 FPTS is likely barring a blowout. While you have to take some cheap fliers to make it happen, jamming Wembanyama and Gilgeous-Alexander in your lineup is the right move for this Showdown slate.
Jalen Williams ($8,000) – Williams (hamstring) made his return from a six-game absence in Game 1 and looked great, posting 42.75 FPTS across 37.2 minutes. Williams doesn’t have any restrictions following the hamstring injury. This is a very reasonable price for the forward, as he was priced at $9,400 for his last game before getting hurt in the first round. Williams is supplying 1.2 FPTS per minute with a 26.4% usage rate and he has scored at least 39 FPTS in 3-of-5 matchups vs. the Spurs this season.
Jaylin Williams ($2,000) – Williams only scored 3.25 FPTS in Game 1, but he still logged 10.2 minutes off the bench, which is the sixth time in nine games this postseason that Williams has cracked double-digit minutes. The big man should see right around 10 minutes again tonight. While this isn’t much work, Williams has a solid chance to reach double-digit FPTS, which would be a solid return at this low salary and punting with him helps you fit both Gilgeous-Alexander and Wembanyama. Williams is amassing 1.0 FPTS per minute this season and he has scored at least 11 FPTS in 6-of-9 games during these playoffs, including two efforts over 20 FPTS. Plus, in the two regular season matchups vs. the Spurs that Williams played his usual bench role, he supplied 12.3 and 37.5 FPTS.
Chet Holmgren ($12,900 CPT, $8,600 FLEX) – Wembanyama and the Spurs have given Holmgren major trouble this season. In Game 1, Holmgren only finished with 24.5 FPTS despite logging 40 minutes. In five matchups vs. San Antonio, Holmgren hasn’t scored more than 31 FPTS and he has finished under 30 FPTS four times. Holmgren is shooting an ugly 36% from the field and he is only garnering a 15.2% usage rate vs. the Spurs, as Holmgren’s issues vs. San Antonio have made him tentative in this matchup. Holmgren may improve from Game 1 tonight, but him outproducing these high salaries would be surprising and he is the clear fade for this slate.
The Spurs’ Game 1 win and their resume vs. the Thunder are very impressive. Still, Oklahoma City had many chances to win Game 1 and I expect the defending champions to respond tonight with a bounce back win. These are the two best teams in basketball and we should see another tight affair, but in the end, the Thunder should come out on top and even this series.
Final Score: Thunder 115, Spurs 110
