Zach Thompson details his best player prop bets for Friday’s NBA playoff matchup between the Cavaliers and the Raptors.
The middle game of the three Game 6 matchups on Friday night features the Cleveland Cavaliers taking on the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena. The Raptors are trying to force a Game 7 on Sunday, while the Cavs can close out the series with a win and move on to the second round. Let’s get ready for an exciting Game 6 with a few of the top player prop bets to consider from this Cavaliers-Raptors matchup, tipping off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
The Cavaliers are 4.5-point road favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, with the game total at O/U 218.5 points. In the futures market, the Cavs are heavy -1600 favorites to win the series while the Raptors are +900 to win the next two games.
The injury report is a big part of the reason why the Cavs are favored in this matchup, since the Raptors listed Immanuel Quickley (hamstring) as out and Brandon Ingram (heel) as doubtful. Without those key players, what Cavs-Raptors player prop bets make sense this Friday? Let’s dive in!
Barnes will have to run the offense once again with Quickley out and with Ingram likely joining him. In Game 5, Barnes had 11 assists in 39 minutes, and in Game 3, he had 11 assists in 35 minutes.
Barnes averaged 11.7 assists in his three games this season without Quickley and Ingram in the lineup, so picking him to get at least nine dimes is a great way to get some value to start your Game 6 betting card.
While he may or may not be able to extend the series, either way I expect Barnes to step up and be very busy running the show on Friday night.
The Cavaliers have relied a little more on their “big three” of Mobley, James Harden and Donovan Mitchell for scoring in this series, and Mobley has gone over this scoring prop in three of the five games in this series. He struggled in the two losses in Toronto despite heavy usage, so look for Harden and Mitchell to try to get him going early in Game 6.
Mobley has at least 11 field goal attempts in each of the last four games, and he finished with 23 points in a nice bounce-back performance in Game 5. In the regular season, Mobley averaged 18.2 points per game, and in this series, he’s averaged 17.2 points per game.
With Jarrett Allen taking a little less work in this series, I expect Mobley to step up in this important Game 6 closeout opportunity. The Raptors will have to adjust their rotation without Ingram, which could lead to some smaller lineups, potentially allowing Mobley to carry even more of the workload as a small-ball center.
Murray-Boyles has already been one of the breakout performers of the playoffs for the Raptors, and he’s still a great source of value in Game 6. The over/under on Murray-Boyles’ PRA (points, rebounds and assists) is only 20.5, and the over on that at -116 is a solid and relatively safe play. I’m ready to be more aggressive, though, and take this prop at just over 2:1 odds.
While it’s definitely not a given that he gets to 25 PRA, he reached this level in Game 2, Game 3, and Game 4, before coming up short with just 15 PRA in the last game in this series.
In Game 2, he had 17 points, seven rebounds and an assist to just reach 25 PRA, but he was even better in the Raptors’ two home wins in Game 3 and Game 4. In Game 3, he had 22 points, eight boards and two assists, and he followed that with a double-double of 15 points, 10 boards and two assists in Game 4.
Murray-Boyles will need to bounce back after a slower Game 5, and as the Raptors fight to extend the series, look for them to get their rookie big man involved early and often. Even if the game gets lopsided, Murray-Boyles could get plenty of opportunities since the Raptors are looking for him to be a big part of their long-term future.
If you’re building an SGP (Same Game Parlay) for Game 6, adding in the under on Strus’s 3PM (three-pointers made) boosts the odds up to a spicy +1500 for the four Raptors-Cavaliers bets in this post.
Strus is a streaky scorer who definitely can go over this prop, hitting at least three three-pointers. However, he’s been under this prop in three of the five games in this series, and in each of the last two games, he hasn’t even made a single three-pointer. In Game 5’s win, the Cavs forward only attempted two three-pointers, so the offense definitely doesn’t always flow through him, and the chances may not be there. The odds may not be favorable enough to play it individually, but adding him to this SGP is a great sweetener to bump the value up to 15:1.
