Zach Thompson dives into Saturday night’s six-game MLB slate to find three value options for your DraftKings lineups.
Major League Baseball has a solid six-game Saturday night slate for the first Saturday in May, which includes the six games starting at 7:15 p.m. ET or later. It’s a fascinating slate with strong pitchers taking the mound at Coors Field, the surging White Sox offense in a tough matchup in San Diego, and a nightcap that will keep us sleepless in Seattle, where the Mariners take on the Royals. To help you fill out your lineup card, let’s take a look at a few MLB DFS Value Picks who bring good upside and potential production even though they are available at low salaries.
At this point in the year especially, the weather can have a major impact on many fantasy baseball contests, but Saturday night looks mostly clear across the board. The temperatures will be much chillier in Detroit than California, but the rain seems to be avoiding the stadiums that have night games on the scoreboard.
Let’s dive in and take a look at a few of the best value plays from the 12 teams in the player pool this Saturday night:

Dollander has been one of the best young pitching prospects in the league over the last few years, showing great upside but not being able to put it all together. However, he’s been lights out in his last few starts, which makes him stand out as a great value play from the probable pitchers on Saturday night. The 24-year-old righty is pitching at home at Coors Field against the powerful Braves lineup, so there’s definitely some risk factors, but with his salary just over $5,000, his upside is too good to pass up on this slate.
Last season, Dollander went 2-12 in 21 starts for Colorado, posting a 6.52 ERA and 5.53 FIP with a 7.5 K/9. This year, he has been significantly better, going 3-2 with a 2.25 ERA and 3.05 FIP, with his strikeout rate jumping to 11.0 K/9. He went seven shutout innings in his most recent outing, allowing five hits and picking up seven strikeouts against the Mets to rack up 29.6 FPTS. He had 25.9 FPTS and 31.6 FPTS in his previous two games, pitching well against the Padres and Astros.
Dollander has been working behind an opener in all but one of his games this season, and on Saturday, he’s expected to pick up the bulk of the work after lefty Brennan Bernardino ($4,000) takes care of the first inning.
Church has averaged 10 FPTS per game over his last 10 games, with four homers, a double, 10 RBIs and a 45.5% hard-hit rate. He went 1-for-4 with a single and an RBI in the first game of the series. Church is part of the team’s youth movement and is proving he can contribute when given opportunities. He hit .329 in the minors last year with 13 homers and 16 stolen bases, hinting at dual-threat potential as he settles into the majors.
The 25-year-old lefty should get another start on Saturday against Roki Sasaki ($7,100), who has been scuffling lately and allowing lots of hard contact. Sasaki has served up seven homers in his last four starts, and Church is a great option under $3,000 who brings a high ceiling Saturday night.
Mauricio hit his first homer in the majors this year on Friday, earning 14 FPTS in the Mets’ 4-3 win over the Angels. Mauricio is hitting only .207 in his first nine games in the majors this year, but in Triple-A Syracuse, he hit .293 with six homers and five stolen bases in just 15 games prior to his promotion.
He and the Mets take on lefty Reid Detmers ($7,800) on Saturday in Anaheim with favorable conditions for the offenses. The switch-hitting Mauricio will likely get another chance in the lineup, and at barely over the minimum salary, he brings nice power and speed potential at a bargain rate. He can slot into either 3B or SS as well, which allows you to spend up in the other spot for whatever star you want to pair him with on the left side of your infield.
