There’s only one game on Tuesday’s Stanley Cup Playoffs slate, but if it plays out anything like Game 1 of this series did, we’re certainly in for a good one. The Colorado Avalanche downed the Minnesota Wild 9-6 on Sunday — yes, you read that score correctly — and run it back again at Ball Arena in Denver tonight.

Best NHL prop bets for Tuesday 5/5/26

Matt Boldy 5+ shots on goal (+140)

No skater in these Stanley Cup Playoffs has more shots on goal than Matt Boldy. The young Minnesota Wild star has put a whopping 36 pucks on the net across his seven appearances, good for an average of 5.14 SOG per game. In those seven contests, he’s tallied at least five shots on goal a total of four times. That’s a hit rate of 57.14% for those keeping score at home, but if you want more reason to feel bullish about this prop bet, consider that Boldy came close to this line with four SOG in another two of those games, plus the fewest he’s recorded in a game this postseason were three attempts. He’s playing very aggressively and scoring will be needed to hang with the Avs, so I like the plus odds even on a high line like this one.

Scott Wedgewood over 24.5 saves (-120)

It’s a little bit surprising to see Scott Wedgewood’s saves prop set at just 24.5, especially given his track record and the matchup. The 33-year-old has been one of the best netminders in the NHL this season, amassing a 2.02 GAA and .921 SV% over the course of his 45 games in the regular season (also winning 31 of his 43 starts). He also ranked first in SV% above expected among all goalies with at least 10 appearances during the 82-game schedule, coming in at third in goals saved above expected per 60. In short, he’s awesome. That’s largely backed up by his playoff performance with a .920 SV% and 2.15 GAA across five games this postseason, stopping 126-of-137 tries. Grated, he just recorded his first game over tonight’s prop line during the series opener against the Wild, but the L.A. Kings never took more than 26 shots, so he didn’t see much volume. Against a Minnesota group that put 36 pucks on net in Game 1 and averages 31.1 SOG per game this postseason, I expect Wedgewood to tally at least 25 saves tonight.
