Cincinnati Reds star Elly De La Cruz was pulled from today’s matchup with the Atlanta Braves after pulling up lame in the fifth inning while rounding first base. The two-time All-Star connected on a nice drive to right center field that looked to be a surefire double off the bat. But De La Cruz pulled up awkwardly just shy of first base and was limited to a single due to the injury.
The Reds replaced De La Cruz with Matt McLain as the pinch runner, and are labeling the issue right hamstring tightness.

Prior to exiting, De La Cruz was 2-2 with a pair of runs scored an a walk in today’s matchup.
It has been a bit of a frustrating season for the Reds’ star as a whole, but he has shown some signs of life of late. On the season, De La Cruz is slashing .274/.339/.504 with a .843 OPS. The shortstop has tallied 12 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 63 total hits on the year.
