We get another two games of Stanley Cup Playoff action to start the weekend, including an elimination game in this slate. At 6 p.m. ET, the Carolina Hurricanes try to close out the Philadelphia Flyers as they take a 3-0 lead into Philly. Three hours later at 9 p.m. ET, Central Division foes duel once more when the Colorado Avalanche bring a 2-0 lead into the State of Hockey as the series shifts to the Minnesota Wild’s home ice.

Best NHL prop bets for Saturday 5/9/26

Logan Stankoven 3+ shots on goal (-120)

C’mon, did you think we wouldn’t put a prop on this piece for Logan Stankoven? The Hurricanes’ young center scored two goals in the opener of this series and maintains the team lead with six during this playoff run. While he’s yet to find the net over the last two games, he does have six shots on goal over those contests, which leads us into today’s prop bet. Stankoven’s 29 shots on goal are another high mark for this Carolina roster, with Andrei Svechnikov’s 23 the next-closest tally. With an average of over four shots on goal per game, I really like this prop line for Stankoven, but there’s more reason to feel bullish. He’s put at least three pucks on the net in all but one of his seven playoff games so far, so we’re looking at an excellent six-for-seven (is this joke still a thing?) hit rate. I feel really good about this one at -120 odds.

Scott Wedgewood over 26.5 saves (-120)

The saves prop for Scott Wedgewood has ticked upwards since Game 1 of this series, which was set at 24.5. After outings of 30 and 29 saves in the first two contests against the Wild, it makes sense to see his line increase to 26.5, but that may not even be high enough. The 33-year-old racked up a 2.02 GAA and .921 SV% over the course of 45 games in the regular season. As I put it last time I wrote his over, he also ranked first in SV% above expected among all goalies with at least 10 appearances during the 82-game schedule, coming in at third in goals saved above expected per 60. Look at his postseason numbers for more encouragement — a .923 SV% and 2.12 GAA are right in line with his full-season sample. After recording over 26.5 saves in each of the first two games of the series, I don’t think he’ll be shaken with the action now taking place in Minnesota. Plus, the Wild average 31.1 shots on goal per game in these Stanley Cup Playoffs, so expect plenty of volume for Wedgie to stop at least 27 pucks.
