Zach Thompson dives into tonight’s nine-game MLB slate to find three picks for your DraftKings cash game lineups.
On Monday night, DraftKings has a fun nine-game slate of fantasy baseball action with five divisional rivalries in play. The Mets and Rockies are not included on the slate anymore after their game got moved up to avoid weather, and issues in Chicago, Kansas City, and St. Louis make those options high risk as well. Still, the pool is deep enough to have plenty of options. DraftKings has a wide variety of ways to get a piece of the fantasy baseball action, including GPPs, Tiers and Pick6. For this post, we’re focused on some prime picks for MLB DFS cash games.
This contest format allows managers to double the entry fee, since almost half of the players are paid out. These 50/50 or “double-up” contests are best suited for lineups with high floors and as little risk as possible. In on-diamond terms, we’re looking to hit singles with these lineups, not home runs. Variance is not as much of a factor here as we look for players with high floors regardless of their ceilings. In short, these should be the safest and most consistent MLB DFS plays of the slate.
With all that in mind, let’s dive into my top picks.

The smaller slate with some high-risk spots leaves only a few mid-range starting pitchers to consider for MLB DFS Picks on Monday. Many times, rookies are too risky for cash games. But Braves freshman JR Ritchie is an intriguing option at this salary, given his potential upside.
Ritchie had an impressive 25.6 FPTS in his debut on the road against the Nationals, striking out seven over seven innings while giving up just two runs on five hits. He struggled a bit with control in his follow-up outing, but he still earned 10.6 FPTS against the Tigers with four strikeouts and four walks over 5.1 frames.
He’ll face the Mariners for his third start in the majors. Seattle is actually a pretty favorable spot, with a pitcher-friendly ballpark and a strikeout-prone lineup. The Mariners have the sixth-highest K% in the majors, while ranking in the bottom 10 in runs scored and wOBA. The Braves see enough in the 22-year-old to give him at least one more turn through the rotation, even after Spencer Strider’s return. He’s from Seattle, so he should be extra motivated to put up another strong showing.
Ozzie Albies and the Braves aren’t at Coors Field anymore. But the second baseman remains a great option for MLB DFS picks, since he has been so consistently productive this season. The 29-year-old switch-hitter is hitting .333 with seven homers and a .405 wOBA through his first 35 games this season. He heads into Seattle on a 15-game hitting streak.
During this stretch, Albies has collected seven multi-hit performances — including back-to-back games for 10 and 18 FPTS. He has recorded at least nine FPTS in six straight contests and is averaging 13.9 FPTS over his last 10 games.
He’ll be taking on Logan Gilbert ($9,000) on Monday. The right-hander is only 1-3 with a 4.03 ERA and 3.33 FIP this season. While he still isn’t a matchup I’d be stacking against — for ideas on that, see the article linked below — Albies is hot enough that he remains a good play at this salary, even in a less-than-ideal matchup.
One key to improving consistency from MLB DFS picks is by leaning into options near the top of the order, since players in the top few spots get more at-bats and run production opportunities. Antonacci moved into the leadoff spot on Sunday and went 0-for-3 with a walk. Still, the 23-year-old lefty has the speed and on-base skills to flourish in that spot ahead of the surging power hitters in the middle of the order.
Over his last 13 games, Antonacci is hitting .333 with a home run, two doubles, two triples, and three walks. He hasn’t stolen a base in the majors yet, but was a perfect 5-for-5 in Triple-A. Antonacci will be a great value with a high floor if he stays in the leadoff spot against Jose Soriano ($9,600), and he’s a nice way to save salary but still get great upside.
