Blake Krass gives his best bet, pick and prediction for Saturday’s FIFA World Cup match between Germany and Ivory Coast.
Teams are starting to play their second matches of this 2026 World Cup. Germany and the Côte d’Ivoire both picked up great wins in their opening matches. If somebody wins this match, they will be in a prime position to win Group E. This match is being held at 4:00 p.m. ET at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.
Here are the odds for the match:
Let’s dive into my favorite bet for this match.
It was a dream start to the World Cup for Germany. They bagged seven goals en route to the biggest win of the tournament so far. While Curacao is one of the weakest teams in the field, plenty of other nations did not live up to the moment in their opening match. Germany was incredibly clinical, with all of its attacking pieces working together well. Kai Havertz, Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala and Felix Nmecha all scored or assisted. Then, Deniz Undav came off the bench to score a goal and assist on two more. He has proven to be a serious goal-scoring threat off the bench, which Germany will need as the tournament progresses.
It was a brilliant start to the tournament for Côte d’Ivoire as well. The African nation made three straight World Cups from 2006 to 2014 on the back of Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure and other great players of that era. They are now back for the first time in over a decade, and are looking to make it out of the group for the first time in the nation’s history. Germany is the clear top dog in this group, and Curacao is clearly at the bottom of the totem pole. It is between the Ivory Coast and Ecuador for that second spot in the group. That is why Amad Diallo’s winning goal in the 90th minute against Ecuador will be a thing of Ivorian legend if they end up making it out of this group. Amad Diallo and Yan Diomande are two dynamic young players who could create some magic for Côte d’Ivoire at this World Cup.
My best bet for this match is for Germany and Côte d’Ivoire to combine for over 2.5 goals, and for Germany to win the match. Germany looked like a wrecking crew in their opening match. Julian Nagelsmann’s style fits this group of players so well, and the amount of attacking depth they have makes them so hard to defend. The Ivory Coast will have a much bigger challenge on its hands in this match. Ecuador is a world-class side defensively, but lacks quality in the attacking areas. Côte d’Ivoire did not have to face much pressure against Ecuador, and could just bide their time looking for that winning goal. Against Germany, they will be under much more pressure. Those bright, young Ivorians could create a goal against Germany, but Germany will likely score two or three in this match.
