Bryan Armetta shares his three favorite player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday’s three-game NBA playoffs slate.
Three games are set to tip off for this evening’s NBA postseason action. To get things started, the Celtics will hope to earn a gentleman’s sweep at home against the 76ers. Later, the Hawks and Knicks battle at MSG for a pivotal Game 5. As the nightcap, Portland visits San Antonio with its season hanging in the balance.
Which players are worth consideration ahead of Tuesday’s matchups? Here are my three favorite NBA prop bet picks on DraftKings Sportsbook for today’s postseason contests.
Joel Embiid made his return to the floor for Philadelphia in Game 4. However, it was Boston that seemed to have the edge inside the paint. They snagged 51 rebounds as a unit, compared to just 30 for the 76ers. Much of the credit goes towards Neemias Queta, who nearly logged a double-double in just 17 minutes (nine points, eight rebounds). The fifth-year pro has been a pleasant surprise for the C’s this year. During the regular season, he averaged 10.2 points and 8.4 rebounds over 76 games played. He’s easily the team’s best rim protector, which is crucial when facing one of basketball’s best big men in Embiid.
If not for a 32-point blowout, Queta likely logs 20+ minutes on Sunday. Although another big win is possible for Boston, the desperate Sixers should deliver a better effort tonight. Still, that may not make much of a difference on the glass. After all, Philadelphia is allowing the NBA’s seventh-most rebounds per game (54.7) to opponents this season. In addition, Queta has snagged at least seven boards in six of his last nine meetings with the 76ers. For those in search of a bigger payout, consider playing this total up to 8+ rebounds (+121).
The Knicks evened up their series at two games apiece on Saturday, limiting CJ McCollum in the process. Atlanta’s best player this postseason only scored 17 points on eight-of-15 shooting. That’s not a terrible scoring output, but certainly not what we saw during his first three playoff games. Even more surprising, McCollum left this weekend empty-handed from beyond the arc (0-for-4). In this series, the veteran has knocked down nine of his 27 three-point attempts (33.3%). Other than Nickeil Alexander-Walker, no Hawks regular commands as much respect from long distance. During the regular season, he shot 37.5% from long distance on 6.7 attempts per game.
It’s no secret that New York can struggle when it comes to guarding the perimeter. The Knicks have allowed 13.8 three-pointers made per game to opponents, tied for tenth-most in the NBA this season. Atlanta takes the association’s ninth-most three-point attempts per game (39.3). As previously mentioned, McCollum has been more than willing to let it fly in this series. He’s reached this total in three of his last five appearances against the Knicks as well. Given Jalen Johnson’s struggles against New York, the Hawks will likely need CJ to be at his best in this one. So far, he’s had success when targeting Jalen Brunson on offense. Should that continue, the 13th-year pro is poised for another productive outing tonight.
It hasn’t exactly been a roaring start to the postseason for Stephon Castle. To be clear, the reigning Rookie of the Year remains a solid all-around threat. However, he’s only shot 41.5% from the field over four games against Portland. There’s good reason to assume the 21-year-old can turn things around on Tuesday. After all, he’s been spectacular for most of the regular season. Through 68 games, the UConn alum has averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 7.4 assists. Even on nights where the shot isn’t falling, Castle usually finds a way to make a positive impact. That’s especially true against a middling Trail Blazers defense.
After winning two straight on the road, San Antonio will look to wrap things up at home tonight. As always, expect this Spurs offense to run through big man Victor Wembanyama. Portland, out of sheer desperation, will likely throw the kitchen sink at Wemby following his stellar Game 4 performance. That should mean more open looks than usual for the rest of this roster, Castle included. The point guard has tallied at least 30 points + rebounds + assists in five of his last six meetings with the Blazers. To boot, Portland operates at the NBA’s tenth-quickest pace on offense (100.52). Castle, even if he does struggle from the field, feels like a good bet heading into this matchup.
