Dan Johnson · 2026-06-22 · via DraftKings Network

Dan Johnson takes you through his preview, prediction, and best bet for today’s baseball game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Milwaukee reaches Great American Ball Park at 46-29, holding the NL Central’s cleanest cushion entering a heavy divisional stretch. Cincinnati sits 37-39, nine and a half games back, after a 4-2 week against the Mets and Yankees. The Reds outscored New York 14-3 over the final two games in the Bronx, so the room has life. Milwaukee lost two one-run games in Atlanta, then answered with a 9-4 Sunday win behind 13 hits. Brandon Woodruff returns after nearly two months away, giving the opener a useful health question. Brady Singer starts for Cincinnati with a season profile full of traffic, barrels, and park risk. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for today’s baseball game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Reds vs. Brewers prediction, preview

Woodruff’s 30-inning line gives Milwaukee the steadier run-prevention shape: 2-1, 3.60 ERA, 3.97 FIP, and 25 strikeouts. Cincinnati’s righty split remains ordinary at .227/.307/.385, with a .692 OPS, 69 homers, 215 walks, and 549 strikeouts. Singer brings the louder full-game flaw. He enters 3-6 with a 5.32 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, 83 hits, 39 earned runs, 17 homers, and 23 walks across 66 innings. His tracking profile shows a .394 wOBA, .367 xwOBA, .447 wOBAcon, .412 xwOBAcon, 91.3 mph EV, 42.4% hard-hit rate, and 11.1% barrel rate. Cincinnati’s staff adds a 4.58 ERA, 4.43 starter ERA, 4.81 bullpen ERA, and only 597 strikeouts over 678 innings.

The pitch-specific matchup gives Milwaukee a strong run path. Singer has thrown sinkers 47.1%, sliders 32.2%, sweepers 10.3%, cutters 6.7%, and four-seamers 3.6%. His sinker has allowed a .314 average, .538 slugging, .413 wOBA, .369 xwOBA, and 45.0% hard-hit rate. His sweeper has been punished for a .333 average, .767 slugging, .505 wOBA, .391 xwOBA, and 45.5% hard-hit contact. Milwaukee owns a .261/.346/.410 slash and .755 OPS against right-handed pitching, with 461 hits, 96 doubles, 53 homers, 224 walks, and 153 extra-base hits. The Brewers rank third in runs and fourth in steals while sitting near the bottom in homers. That profile fits Singer’s traffic risk because Milwaukee can score through walks, steals, doubles, and one lifted mistake.

The batter layer gives the game more heat than the full-season home run totals suggest. Jackson Chourio is hitting .301/.354/.540 with 10 homers, 30 runs, 30 RBI, and 22 extra-base hits. He also carries a .383 wOBA, .348 xwOBA, .480 wOBAcon, 92.3 mph EV, and 48.1% hard-hit rate. Chourio has hammered sinkers for a .389 average, .611 slugging, .485 wOBA, .433 xwOBA, and 71.4% hard-hit rate. William Contreras is hitting .299/.358/.417 with 43 runs and 46 RBI, plus a .348 xwOBA and 12.6% strikeout rate. Contreras also owns a .342 average and .373 wOBA against sinkers. Cincinnati’s answer starts with Sal Stewart’s 14 homers, Spencer Steer’s June power, and Tyler Stephenson’s three-run shot Sunday, especially if Woodruff’s command lags.

Brewers vs. Reds pick, best bet

The counterargument starts with Singer’s recent correction. He has allowed three earned runs over his last 11 innings, with nine hits, four walks, 10 strikeouts, and no homers. His slider also gives him one dependable bat-missing lane, with a 32.9% whiff rate and a .315 wOBA allowed. Cincinnati’s bullpen has usable pockets, too. Brock Burke owns a 3.00 ERA, Sam Moll sits at 3.19, Tejay Antone is at 2.75, and Caleb Ferguson is at 1.50. Those numbers keep me off an alternate Milwaukee total. Singer’s full-season contact file still carries more weight in this park, especially with Tony Santillan at 5.10, Zach Maxwell at 9.90, Chris Paddack at 6.04, and Emilio Pagán unavailable.

The context keeps the edge on Milwaukee’s scoring. Great American Ball Park rewards lifted contact, even with temperatures near 71 degrees at first pitch and earlier storms cooling the night. The weather trims the full-game over, since this lacks a true summer launch-pad feel. Milwaukee’s standings spot adds urgency, with 18 of its next 21 games against NL Central teams before the break. Cincinnati is 7-11 without Elly De La Cruz, who is nearing a return from a hamstring injury. The Brewers moneyline asks for too much, and the run line can get clipped in a 6-5 park game. The full-game over needs Cincinnati to solve enough Woodruff. Milwaukee’s team total keeps the bet tied to Singer’s sinker damage, Milwaukee’s righty split, and Cincinnati’s season-long relief cracks.

Best bet: Brewers team total over 5.5 runs at +105. Playable to -115.

Projected score: Brewers 6, Reds 4.

Best bet: Brewers TT o4.5 runs (+110) at Reds
