Jacob Misiorowski, Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals ($11,500) — Nobody Beats the Mis! Fine, he does have two losses on the season but I’m blaming that on the offense because Misiorowski has been almost unhittable this season. The ERA is 1.89 while the FIP is 2.12. The strikeout rate is a ridonkulous 39.3% while the K-BB% is 31.2%. He’s allowed only four home runs in 57 innings with an 86.9 mph average exit velocity and paper thin 2.7% barrel rate. On the season, Misiorowski has produced double-digit FPTS in every start with eight over 20 FPTS and five over 30 FPTS. The four most recent outings have all resulted in over 30 FPTS.
Zebby Matthews, Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox ($7,700) — Matthews has a 1.38 ERA in 13 innings. Small sample size alert! He’s been lucky with a .229 BABIP and 93% strand rate, so the FIP is much higher at 2.63. The strikeout rate is 22.9% but the walk rate is a microscopic 2.1%. The average exit velocity is 88.3 mph while the barrel rate is 5.6%. Chicago has power in the lineup and can be deadly, as they are fifth in ISO, ninth in wOBA and ninth in wRC+. That said, the White Sox are third in strikeouts. In two starts this season, Matthews put up 18.5 and 26.8 FPTS.
Junior Caminero, Tampa Bay Rays at Baltimore Orioles ($5,000) — Caminero has 13 home runs in 215 plate appearances. The walk rate is 12.6% while the strikeout rate is only 16.3%. The ISO is .235. Against right-handed pitching, Caminero has hit 10 of the 13 home runs while producing a 135 wRC+ and .245 ISO. Kyle Bradish can miss bats with a 25.3% strikeout rate, but he does have control issues with a 12.2% walk rate, which has helped produce a 4.03 FIP. He’s allowed six home runs in 52.1 innings with a 11.3% barrel rate. Against righties, the FIP is 4.71 while the K-BB% is 12.5%. Three of the six home runs allowed have come off the bat of a righty.
Mark Vientos, New York Mets vs. Cincinnati Reds ($3,000) — Against left-handed pitching, Vientos has a 140 wRC+, .200 ISO and .309/.333/.509 slash in 57 plate appearances. Nick Lodolo has only pitched 15 innings this season but he’s struggled against righties with a 7.96 FIP and 2.1% K-BB%. Three of the four home runs allowed have come off the bat of a righty.
Aaron Judge, New York Yankees at Kansas City Royals ($6,500) — Entering Sunday’s game, Judge had 16 home runs, 40 runs, 30 RBI and five stolen bases. The walk rate was 16.5% while the strikeout rate was 29.1%, both off the mark from the last few seasons. The .298 ISO is robust for normal humans, but Judge is no normal human. Over the last four seasons, the ISO has been in the .350 to .375 range! Judge went 11 games without a home run but finally belted one on Sunday. Against right-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 147 with a .290 ISO. Michael Wacha has been solid but the 2.7 ERA isn’t supported by the 3.88 FIP. The K-BB% is only 14.1% and four of the seven home runs allowed have come off the bat of a righty.
Jac Caglianone, Kansas City Royals vs. New York Yankees ($3,100) — Caglianone only has five home runs in 168 plate appearances. The strikeout rate is high at 30.4% while the launch angle is only 6.4 degrees. That said, the average exit velocity is 94 mph and the barrel rate is 16.5%. The bat speed is 76.6 mph and he’s pulling the ball at a career-high 46.6%. He just needs to get the ball in the air. Will Warren has been very good with a 22.3% K-BB%, but five of the six home runs allowed have come off the bat of a lefty. In addition, the FIP is 4.34 while the K-BB% is 18.3% against them.
