Apple TV’s LA-based detective series with a surprise twist, Sugar, returns soon for season 2—here’s the new trailer.

Colin Farrell stars as LA-based detective John Sugar in a series that gives off old Hollywood noir vibes.
Sugar season 2 premieres Friday, June 19 with one episode, followed by weekly releases through August 7.
The show surprised many viewers with a big sci-fi twist in its first season that’s expected to be explored further in season 2.
Otherwise, Sugar follows many of the expected beats of a classic private detective story, anchored by strong performances and an intriguing mystery.
Today Apple unveiled the trailer for the new season, which is available below, followed by the plot summary:
“Sugar” is a contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary, motion picture and television history: the private detective story. Season two ushers in the return of Los Angeles’ iconic private detective and film connoisseur John Sugar, played by Farrell, who takes on a new missing persons case — searching for the older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer — all while continuing the search for his beloved missing sister. As the investigation expands into a citywide conspiracy with sinister intentions, Sugar must reckon with himself to answer the question — how far will he go to do what’s right?
