With the increased popularity of smart rings from Oura and others, there’s been plenty of speculation about whether Apple would build its own competitor. Now, per leaker Kosutami it sounds like an Apple ‘iRing’ might be in development.
Apple Watch remains a very successful product line for Apple, consistently dominating the smart watch market.
But health trackers continue finding success in other form factors, such as smart rings from Oura (pictured above), and smart bands like WHOOP and Fitbit Air.
Many have wondered if Apple will ever offer a direct competitor.
And now, per a new post on X from leaker Kosutami, it sounds like a smart ring might be in the works.

In a follow-up post, Kosutami confirms that this project under development is expected to compete with the Oura Ring and Samsung Galaxy Ring.
It’s unclear how far along the effort might be, however, and no other details were shared.
We know that Eddy Cue recently took over leadership for Apple’s Health division, and has reportedly pushed the company to be more aggressive in its health offerings. A smart ring could be part of that. Especially with most Apple products getting more expensive, perhaps the company sees an opportunity to launch a more affordable wearable with a smart ring.
However, just because an ‘iRing’ might be in development doesn’t mean we’ll end up seeing the product materialize. I suspect Apple has investigated smart rings for years, but never built anything. If the product truly is in development now though, we’re likely a long ways off from it shipping.
