Earlier this year, Apple updated its iOS and iPadOS usage figures, showing adoption just a smidge behind iOS 18 and iOS 17 in the months after their releases. Here are the updated numbers.

Are people still updating to iOS 26 and iPadOS 26?

Every year, around WWDC, Apple updates its iOS and iPadOS usage numbers, offering a glimpse of how fast (or slowly) users are adopting the current system.

This week, Apple updated its adoption rate figures with data “measured by devices that transacted on the App Store on June 7, 2026.”

According to Apple’s new numbers, of all iPhones introduced in the last four years:

• 86% are running iOS 26
• 11% are running iOS 18
• 3% are running earlier versions

When it comes to all iPhones in use that can run iOS 26:

• 79% are running iOS 26
• 14% are running iOS 18
• 7% are running earlier versions

As for the iPad, here’s the adoption rate of iPadOS 26 on devices introduced in the last four years:

• 79% are running iPad 26
• 16% are running iPad 18
• 5% are running earlier versions

Finally, considering all iPad models that are compatible with iPadOS 26:

• 68% are running iPad 26
• 17% are running iPad 18
• 15% are running earlier versions

Compared with the data from February, iOS 26 adoption grew 12% for iPhones released in the last four years and 13% for all compatible iPhones, while iPadOS 26 adoption grew 13% and 11%, respectively.

When it comes to how iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 fare against the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 adoption figures from last June, both are 2% behind for devices released in the last four years, and 3% behind overall.
