Following last month’s launch of MCP compatibility in Opera Neon, Opera is now bringing its browser connector feature to Opera One and Opera GX. Here’s what that means.
A few weeks ago, Opera announced that Opera Neon, its subscription-based agentic browser, had gained MCP compatibility, allowing users to connect external AI tools directly to their live browsing sessions.
In practice, the feature enabled Opera Neon subscribers to let chatbots and tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Lovable, n8n, and OpenClaw access tabs, interact with pages, and take actions on their behalf.
Today, Opera is extending this MCP compatibility to Opera One and Opera GX, which means that the feature is no longer limited to Opera Neon subscribers.
MCP is an open standard that connects AI models (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and, of course, Claude) to external systems (such as Notion, Google Drive, Slack, GitHub, and Zapier).

access and read page content, understand open tabs, and even take screenshots to analyze images or graphs-you can now allow Claude or ChatGPT to access your browser session.
Opera says that the feature, which lands today in Early Bird mode, reaffirms the company’s commitment to user choice, ensuring “users aren’t bound to a single company’s ecosystem, but are instead free to combine the best tools for their specific needs,” according to Mohamed Salah, Senior Director of Product at Opera.
To enable the Browser Connector feature, go to Settings, search for AI Services, install Browser Connector, then connect your preferred LLM.
