Biggest US airline adds support for iOS 26 boarding passe...
Chance Miller · 2026-04-14 · via 9to5Mac

As part of iOS 26, Apple launched a revamped experience for airline boarding passes in Apple Wallet.

United and Southwest rolled out support for the new iOS 26 boarding pass experience last year.

Now, American Airlines has officially followed suit by supporting key new boarding pass features in Apple Wallet.

In the release notes for the most recent update to the American Airlines app for iPhone, the company says:

Your boarding pass has a new look with more at your fingertips, like Apple Maps, destination guides, and quick shortcuts to the app. You can also track your luggage and open Find My right from your pass.

With the new boarding pass experience, Apple Wallet shows you all the key details about your flight. This includes in-depth airport information in Apple Maps, support for sharing your flight information with other people, and quick access to tracking your AirTag-equipped luggage in the Find My app.

The rollout to American Airlines is a major milestone for the new feature, as American is the largest airline in the US by annual passenger count.

Here’s what the new Apple Wallet boarding passes look like (using Delta as an example, but the design is the same across all airlines):

Previously, boarding passes in Apple Wallet offered only the basic information about your flight, without any of the new bells and whistles.

With today’s rollout to American Airlines, the refreshed boarding passes in Apple Wallet are currently supported by:

  • American Airlines
  • United Airlines
  • Southwest Airlines
  • Air Canada

Apple has promised that other airlines signed on to support the feature are Delta, JetBlue, Jetstar, Lufthansa Group, Qantas, and Virgin Australia.

So, now, when your American flight inevitably gets delayed, you’ll at least have a prettier boarding pass to stare at while you wait.

Delta drops support

Meanwhile, Delta launched support for the new iOS 26 boarding passes last November. Shortly thereafter, however, the airline abandoned its plans and reverted to the old boarding pass implementation due to bugs and performance issues. There’s no word from Delta on when or if it plans to re-launch the feature.
