To mark International Intern Day, one Google intern talked to other interns across the company to learn what they’re working on.

General summary

Five Google interns share their impactful summer projects. Matt Robyns-Landricombe manages French advertisers' Google Ad strategies and creates an AI chatbot for sellers. Miranda Herrera simplifies the experimentation process for product feature testing. Quan Pham designs a more efficient assembly process for Pixel phone batteries. Srishti Garg incorporates AI solutions into Google's internal case management systems. These interns contribute to Google's innovation and growth while gaining valuable career experience.

As a summer intern at Google, I’m currently working on Talos, our internal tool to help data center technicians perform a wide range of tasks. Specifically, my project aims to make Talos more user-friendly and engaging, which helps encourage people in our data centers to use it.

It’s inspiring to know that the impact of my project will be felt by Googlers around the world. And I know interns around the company feel the same, because Google makes it a point to set interns up with significant projects. To celebrate International Intern Day, I spoke to four other interns around the world to learn more about what they’re working on.

1. Matt Robyns-Landricombe helps businesses thrive using Google Ads.

Matt, who is based in Dublin, is interning on Google’s sales team in France. In this role, he manages a portfolio of 120 French advertisers. Whether Matt is talking to a small family business or a well-known global brand, his goal is the same: to help them reach the right customers, in the right place, at the right time, using Google Ads. “It’s so rewarding to show my clients how they can level up their ads strategy to beat their business goals,” he says. In addition to this work, Matt is also partnering with another intern to create an AI-powered chatbot for sellers, which provides rapid access to a wealth of market insights and export resources that sellers can use to support their clients in shaping their international growth strategy.

2. Miranda Herrera helps Googlers test and analyze new product features.

Miranda, based in Sunnyvale, California, is a software engineering intern working to help Googlers test product features, record metrics and analyze performance. For Miranda, the opportunity to simplify the experimentation process for Googlers across the company is particularly rewarding. “In a small yet vital way, my work provides the simplicity necessary for Googlers to focus on their own complex innovation,” she says, “innovation that affects not only Google, but also the world."

3. Quan Pham optimizes Google Pixel production.

Based in Hanoi, Vietnam, Quan is interning as a technical program manager to help design a more efficient assembly process for Pixel phone batteries. For Quan, the most rewarding part of this project is its complexity and its long-term impact. “What I really love about projects like these is the fact that every improvement we make will be carried over to the upcoming products,” he says.“Overall, this makes me feel that what I work on is not only important, but long lasting as well."

4. Srishti Garg builds AI tools to help Google run more smoothly.

“Joining Google felt like stepping into a world of innovation,” says Srishti, based in Hyderabad, India. Srishti is working to incorporate AI-powered solutions into Google’s internal case management systems — which are the tools that help internal teams keep track of and solve issues — a project that’s also a valuable learning opportunity. “This project is a stepping stone, not just for contributing to a groundbreaking platform but also for building a strong foundation for my career in software engineering and machine learning,” she says.”
