Soaring fuel prices are having "no immediate impact on service levels or planned capital works" in Sutherland Shire, the council says.

The situation contrasts with other areas, where councils have expressed alarm about the effect on their budgets and warned of possible deferral of services, rescheduling of projects and a review of domestic waste charges if the war in Iran continues.

A spokeswoman said Sutherland Shire Council had been closely monitoring the impact of fuel supply and increasing costs on its operations and suppliers.

"While fuel is a key input for areas such as waste, construction, fleet and parks maintenance activities, these risks are being addressed and monitored, and factored into Council's budget planning through ongoing budget review and cost management strategies," she said.

"Council is actively managing the impacts by closely reviewing supplier cost pressures in line with contractual arrangements, prioritising service continuity, and identifying operational efficiencies where possible.

"We are also working with our industry partners to ensure consistency is maintained across the region."

The spokeswoman said, where fuel related cost increases were unavoidable, they were being assessed carefully to ensure they were reasonable, transparent and consistent with contractual and legislative requirements.

"Importantly, Council remains in a sound financial position," she said.

"The overall budget and financial strategy parameters continue to be managed above target, and there is no immediate impact on service levels or planned capital works.

"Council will continue to closely monitor fuel price movements and adjust its budget as required to ensure value for money for Sutherland Shire residents while maintaining essential services."
