These will be created to pay tribute to the local lives lost; Peter 'Marzo' Meagher, Matilda Britvan and Dan Elkayam.
"The 14 December 2025 Bondi massacre was a tragedy of national significance, with the loss of three local lives making it very real and genuinely felt throughout the Bayside community," Bayside mayor Edward McDougall said in a mayoral minute at the May 27 council meeting.
"It has profoundly altered this country's belief that social cohesion can be taken for granted and has reinforced the need to stand up for multicultural Australia and stand against the 'hijacking of our shared humanity'.
"I would ask that council supports this mayoral minute, calling for three unique and beautiful places to be created to pay tribute to the local lives lost; Peter 'Marzo' Meagher, Matilda Britvan and Dan Elkayam.
"We have commenced discussions with Peter's wife, Virginia, with a view to creating a peaceful, reflective space in Sir Joseph Banks Park, with a memorial bench and plaque dedicated to Peter.
"Matilda's family have confirmed that they have spent many happy times at the playground in Cahill Park.
"I think it would be very appropriate to name the playground for Matilda. Her family have welcomed this suggestion.
"We have also reached out to Illinden and Dan Elkayam's family to arrange a suitable memorial for him.
"Given his connection to Illinden, the suggestion is to include a memorial bench in his name, in the new park at Bicentennial Park adjacent to the Illinden Sports Centre, once completed.
"I know these lasting legacies will be valued by the Bayside community," Cr McDougall said.
