The shark was released at 4.37pm on May 27, the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) reported on the SharkSmart app, which provides updates on sightings, alerts and tagged shark detections along the NSW coast.
Two days earlier, the international bodyboarding event, the Shark Island Challenge, was wrapping up in the area after three days of competition.
The DPI operates 15 SMART (Shark Management Alert in Real Time) drumlines 500 metres off beaches between Oak Park and Boat Harbour.
