A 22-year-old international student from Pakistan, who was working as a rideshare driver, was among three people who died in a head-on collision at Sans Souci on the weekend.

Shoaib Hussain was driving the blue Camry sedan on the northern approach to Captain Cook Bridge when a white Audi on the other side of the road, which was travelling at high speed, rolled over a concrete barrier and landed on top.

The passenger in the Camry was Seamus Duignan a popular ex-student of De La Salle College, Caringbah, who was on his way home after celebrating his 28th birthday at a heavy metal rock concert.

Close friends, who launched a GoFundMe "to support Shoaib's family during this heartbreaking time", said he came to Australia in September 2022 on a student visa with dreams of building a better future for his family back in Pakistan.

"He was a kind-hearted, honest, and extremely hardworking young man who always put his family before himself," they wrote.

"No matter how difficult life became, Shoaib continued supporting his father and brothers back home and always carried the responsibility of his family on his shoulders.

"His father, Muhammad Hussain, is a farmer in Pakistan, and Shoaib was one of the strongest supports for his family. His sudden passing has left his family devastated and heartbroken beyond words."

Tamati Gilbert, 42, was driving the Audi.

His sister Renata Gilbert posted online: "He was a father, son, brother, partner, uncle and friend to many. You are loved and you are missed."

The family of a 28-year-old man, who was an innocent victim of the horror car crash at Sans Souci, are "completely heartbroken and struggling to come to terms with this unimaginable loss".

Seamus Duignan and a 20-year-old rideshare driver, yet to be named, were in a southbound Toyota sedan hit by a northbound Audi, which was travelling at high speed and rolled over a concrete barrier and landed on top of the other car.

Seamus, a popular ex-student of De La Salle College, Caringbah, was on his way home after celebrating his 28th birthday.

Police said Tamati Gilbert was the 42-year-old driver of the Audi.

Seamus' brother described him as "a good man, brother and uncle" who was "never in trouble, just a good man who loved a laugh", 9 News reported.

Seamus' sister Sinead Dries has launched a GoFundMe fund-raising appeal to help their mother.

"On Friday night, our lives changed forever when my beautiful brother, Seamus, was tragically killed in a car accident," she wrote.

"Our family is completely heartbroken and struggling to come to terms with this unimaginable loss. Seamus was so deeply loved, and his passing has left an enormous hole in the lives of everyone who knew him.

"Seamus lived with her, and not only is she grieving the loss of her son, but she is now also facing the financial pressure of funeral costs, household expenses, and everyday living expenses while trying to navigate this heartbreak.

"Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to our family and help take some of the stress and burden off Mum so she can focus on grieving and healing.

"If you are unable to donate, we completely understand - sharing this page and keeping our family in your thoughts means just as much.

The overnight crash at Sans Souci in which three people died followed police attempting to speak to one of the drivers at a Gymea Bay home.

A police statement said, about 12.25am on Saturday, police attended a home on Second Avenue, Gymea Bay, following reports of a concern for welfare.

"On arrival, officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attempted to speak to a 42-year-old man; however, he left the scene in a white Audi before officers could speak to him.

"A short time later, emergency services were called to the southbound lanes on Rocky Point Road, Sans Souci, after reports of a two vehicle crash.

"Officers attached to St George and Sutherland Shire Police Area Commands attended and found that the Audi had rolled over a concrete barrier before landing on a blue Toyota sedan.

"The 42-year-old driver of the Audi died at the scene.

"The driver and passenger of the Toyota also died at the scene and are yet to be formally identified.

"A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced with the assistance of specialist officers from the Crash Investigations Unit."

Detective Acting Superintendent Graham Hibbs said police were unable to speak to the man at the Gymea Bay home before he drove away.

The Audi was travelling at "considerable speed" before the crash, which caused one of the cars to catch alight, he said.

"It was a horrific scene. We really feel for the families of all three persons and their loved ones," he said.

"I don't think there were many cars on the road at that time."

Some 20 to 40 bystanders tried to help after one of the cars caught on fire.

Three people have died following a head-on crash at Sans Souci overnight.

A police statement said, about 12.30am on Saturday, emergency services were called to southbound lanes on Rocky Point Road after reports of a two vehicle crash.

"Officers attached to St George and Sutherland Shire Police Area Commands attended and located a white Audi sedan had collided with a blue Camry sedan, one of which landed on its roof," the statement said.

"The male driver of the Audi sedan died at the scene.

"The driver of the blue Camry and a passenger also died at the scene. They are all yet to be formally identified.

"A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced with the assistance of specialist officers from the Crash Investigations Unit.

"Localised traffic diversions are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area."
