The council will prepare a detailed report outlining costing and design options to revitalise Rocky Point Road from Clarkes Road to Park Road.

This follows a notice of motion submitted by Councillor Vicki Poulos at the April 22 council meeting.

The report will look at future works including:

- Streetscape improvements to existing footpaths in Rocky Point Road, Ramsgate Road and Park Road, including new paving, street furniture, trees and shrubs;

- Construction of a new town square in Dillon Street, incorporating paving, seating, street furniture, trees, shrubs and landscaping; and

- Related public domain enhancements such as pedestrian linkages, undergrounding of services and improved lighting.

The report will also identify any additional public parking spaces within the Ramsgate town centre.

The revitalisation works will be sourced from the Ramsgate Commercial Centre Development Contributions Plan 2006 and other funding options subject to the outcomes and recommendations of the report.

Significant contributions have already been collected under this plan and remain available for these purposes. As at the end of December 2025, the contributions reserve had accumulated $2.33 million.

Supporting the notice of motion, Cr Poulos said, "Local businesses and residents now deserve to see clear, tangible benefits and upgrades to their Ramsgate town centre. This motion seeks to activate and update the original objectives of the 2006 plan by progressing a professional, costed design and implementation pathway for consistent, cohesive streetscape upgrades."

Bayside Council mayor, Edward McDougall said, "Delivering these works will enhance the visual appeal, functionality and economic vitality of the Ramsgate town centre for residents, businesses and visitors."

The council unanimously supported Cr Poulos' notice of motion.

The report will be presented to the council before any inclusion of the project in future Bayside Capital Works Programs.
