The art deco architecture, neighbourhood cafés handmade fashion, artisan markets and multicultural delicacies, were on show for visitors to celebrate the charm and creative spirit of Carlton.
The festival was presented by Bayside Council in partnership with local businesses and cultural institutions.
Stories on Parade coincides with the opening day of Sydney Writers' Festival and featured a special author talk on Miles Franklin at Shopfront Arts Co-op.
Famous for her iconic novel My Brilliant Career, Miles Franklin once lived in Carlton, and new interpretive signage celebrating her life, literary legacy and local connection was unveiled as part of the festivities.
Visitors enjoyed packed program of attractions including self-guided historical displays, market stalls, guided heritage walking tours, family-friendly entertainment, a petting zoo and performances by talented local artists including a new musical, the Carlton Chronicles celebrating the history of the suburb.
