I searched through the web and couldn't find an answer, but may be it's too difficult to explain what I'm looking for to a search engine

I have a table, already existing with thousand of rows in it
I need to add a new column with a value linked permanently to the value of another column, but not the same row

like
row 1 : status = OK
row 2 : statusfrom1 = row1(status)

not just when creating the row2 but dynamically, if I change row1(status) then row2(statusfrom1) will be automatically updated

kind of "softlink" for files under Unix , if you see what I mean

Is it possible ?

I know that the best way to achieve that will be to have an extra table but this may imply to me to rewrite a lot of stuff behind and also the table is full, I would like to avoid to update all rows
