We’re excited to announce an opportunity for students to connect with employees at GitHub ahead of GitHub Universe 2022! This year, the conference will take place virtually and in-person November 9-10 and to kick the week off, we’re thrilled on behalf of GitHub Social Impact, to host virtual Micro-Mentoring sessions for the fourth year in a row.

As part of our ongoing commitment to drive positive and lasting contributions to the world with GitHub products, our brand, and our employees, we’re providing an opportunity for 30-minute, 1:1 Micro-Mentoring sessions for students with GitHub employees.

This is a time to engage with industry experts on career pathing. From resume feedback, to goal planning and skill development, this is a time to connect personally and professionally like-minded individuals. We will have two tracks, Day 1 Resume and Day 2 Technical Career Pathing.

Here’s what one past participant had to say about the experience:

I was fairly nervous when I met with the GitHub micro-mentor because I’m not used to having the opportunity of speaking with people in tech about my career goals and resume. Through this experience, I learned a lot about tech and myself. I feel a lot more confident about applying to Software Engineer Internships and consulting work after this experience.

How to take part:

• Each slot will consist of a virtual 1:1 session with a GitHub employee for 30 minutes on Monday, November 7, 2022 for the resume session and Tuesday, November 8, 2022 for the technical career pathing session between 4:00 am-10:30 am PT. Please note there is limited availability.

• A diverse team of GitHub employees will review each application. Applications must be received by 5:00 pm PT Wednesday, October 5th. Applications must be received by 5:00 pm PT Friday, October 7th. You must be 18 or older and currently enrolled in a college/university/academic institution. If you are selected to participate, we will contact you by email by Wednesday, October 12th, and you must confirm your attendance in writing by email by Monday, October 17th.
