Good news for people who like good news!

CloudCannon has just taken a giant leap forward in making content management more powerful, flexible, and user-friendly for everyone — from solo developers creating their first site through to large teams or digital agencies working on enterprise-level sites.

We covered most of these features in our last post, but to recap the high points, all CloudCannon users will now have access to:

  • Live data and configuration editing capabilities
  • Streamlined Headless Mode
  • Simplified builds via a Unified Configuration option

TLDR: A swathe of major updates and minor quality-of-life improvements is now available to everyone 🎉

Keep your site static, add server-side rendering (SSR), or create a fully hosted API. It’s your call!

Unified Configuration and streamlined builds Direct link to this section

We’ve simplified the build process and reduced reliance on SSG-specific configuration. You’ll also see improved default configurations and fewer build restrictions for new sites.

We’ve also added a few subtle yet impactful changes, such as improved card displays, richer preview options for select and multiselect inputs, and collection filtering. You'll also find new opt-in features like enhanced select inputs and content editor bindings, all implemented as non-breaking changes to ensure a smooth transition.

While much of CloudCannon’s under-the-hood code has been revamped, these changes are designed to be either small enhancements or largely invisible improvements.

We like websites that keep working. So do you! It’s particularly important to us that our ongoing improvements don’t negatively affect anyone’s websites or projects. That’s why all of our major new features are opt-in only.

If you like the way your CloudCannon projects are configured, there’s no need to change! All of your current configurations and workflows will remain unaffected, and you have the option to explore our new features at your own pace.
