Custom testing domains for professional branding
2025-08-25 · via CloudCannon Blog

Have you ever sent a testing URL to a client and wished it looked a bit more... you? We’ve got some good news. We’ve just rolled out Custom Testing Domains for CloudCannon Partners, as well as Team and Enterprise customers, giving you more control over how your testing URLs look and feel.

What are custom testing domains? Direct link to this section

Think of custom testing domains as your chance to put your own spin on our .cloudvent.net URLs. You can now create something that represents your brand, instead of being automatically assigned a generated (and potentially generic) testing URL.

So instead of sharing adjective-noun.cloudvent.net with your client, you could send them clientproject-yourcompany.cloudvent.net. Much better, right?

Why this matters for your workflow Direct link to this section

First impressions count, even for testing URLs. When you’re sharing a work-in-progress site with clients or stakeholders, having a branded domain immediately signals professionalism. It’s a small touch, but it helps.

This is especially handy if you’re an agency or consultancy constantly sharing test sites for client review. The URLs you’re sharing can become another touchpoint for reinforcing your brand throughout the entire project lifecycle.

CloudCannon documentation custom testing domain prefix

Getting started Direct link to this section

Just reach out to our support team and we’ll assign you a unique organizational handle. This becomes the consistent suffix for all your testing domains.

When you’re creating a new site, you’ll just create a unique prefix that gets combined with your organization’s handle. The whole thing will look like this: [your-prefix]-[your-organization-handle].cloudvent.net

One thing to keep in mind — each full domain can only be used once, so you’ll want to plan your naming strategy to avoid any duplicate issues later on.

Custom Testing Domains are available for Team and Enterprise customers, as well as anyone in our Partner Program. For more information on testing domains, check out our documentation.

We’re always looking for ways to make CloudCannon work better for the teams and agencies who count on us for their client work. Custom Testing Domains are just one more way we’re helping you look professional at every stage of your projects.
