Just A Day is a series of self-portraits that captures ordinary moments of everyday life, where people are able to rest, reflect, find enjoyment, and simply be present with their own existence.
The sense of calm found in these paintings carries a subtle irony in contrast to a world in constant flux. Waves of workforce reductions, the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, and the accelerating pace of change have made the future feel more uncertain than ever. Within this landscape, many young people live with the persistent feeling that they must continually prove their worth in order not to be left behind.
Our generation often feels like a cast of performers on a stage where the lights never go out. We work relentlessly to affirm our value and purpose. Yet, in this constant state of urgency, rushing forward from the moment we wake each morning, are we gradually losing our ability to appreciate the present and drifting away from the things that once filled us with genuine passion?
Through this project, I hope to celebrate everyday life, the joy of labor, the spirit of commitment, and the sense of innocence that allows us to keep loving life despite its uncertainties. Perhaps the meaning of life does not always lie in becoming someone, but in fully inhabiting the moments unfolding around us.
In these quiet moments, we may find an opportunity to see ourselves more clearly through the ways we engage with the world around us. And from there, each of us may gradually discover our own path, along with the things that continue to inspire, move, and captivate us.
