A double bill of ferociously typed updates

Our annual Summer Game Fest liveblog returns this evening, June 5th, for another up-to-the-minute updatening of all the news, trailers, and announcements unveiled during the Summer of Geoff’s main showcase. And, since it follows straight after, we’re sticking around for the indie-focused Day of the Devs. That’s - hang on - two liveblogs in one. Unprecedented, except for those times we did it before.

What awaits us within these three-odd hours? Game adverts, obvs. We know, or are at least arrogantly certain, that Respawn’s XCOM-like Star Wars: Zero Company will make an appearance at the headline showcase, as will open-world racer Clutch, a new Soulframe trailer, and something Among Us-shaped. Gazing into the rumour abyss, there’s a possibility of updates on The Witcher 4 and/or upcoming Witcher 3 expansion Songs of the Past, maybe a little Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake, or perhaps some cheeky Persona 6? We’ll see. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and a new Injustice fighting game have had their whispers too.

As for Day of the Devs, confirmed games include Sunset Visitor’s Prove You’re Human, Lovecraftian horror-fisher Dreadmoor, squash 'n' stretch action roguelike Into the Unwell, and environmentally-minded road trip RPG Ithaca. N++ devs Metanet Software will also be revealing something new.

In short: there will be games at Summer Game Fest. You can join us for all of them as we watch the livestream (we’ll specifically be following the official stream, embedded here) and share thoughts in the comment-friendly liveblog tool below. The primary SGF showcase begins at 10pm BST / 5pm EDT, but we’ll be settling down around 9pm BST / 4pm PDT, both to catch any potential pre-show and for me to warm up my postin' fingers. In the meantime, we’ll be popping in occasionally to share any early-onset leaks and news from throughout the day. See you soon.
