Update on UCAS Chair of Trustees
2026-02-26 · via UCAS - At the heart of connecting people to higher education

Due to unforeseen circumstances Edward Astle has informed the Board that he needs to step down as Chair of UCAS. As Deputy Chair, James Miller will step up and lead the Board on an interim basis.

Edward Astle said: “In my short time as Chair I have been hugely impressed by the progress which UCAS is making to enhance the crucial support it provides to students and to the universities and colleges they apply to. I have absolute confidence that this will continue under Jo Saxton's leadership."

On behalf of the Board, James Miller said: "The Board recognises the passion and commitment Edward has brought to the role, particularly in relation to organisational resilience and we thank Edward for his contribution."
