New live site scanner makes it faster to see how domains are being used.
DotDB is the go-to tool for people looking for how popular a second-level domain name is. The platform just added a new feature that solves a major problem with the tool.
DotDB has always shown a list of top level domains that a domain is taken in. Paid users also see a color indication of whether the domain is active, parked, or inactive.
But to see how the domains are actually used, you have to click each one to open it in a new browser window.
Complicating the matter, many domains flagged as in use often aren’t actually being used.
The new feature lets users grab screenshots for each domain. Just click a button, and DotDB gets live screenshots.
This means users can just hover over each domain to see how it’s being used today.
It’s a big help.
There’s another recent feature addition worth checking out.
By default, DotDB orders results by the number of domain registrations in each TLD. Now, users can change this order to put whatever TLDs they want at the front of the list. For example, if you’re particularly interested in .ai domains, you can move that to the front of the list.
This change is made under Account Settings > Search Preference:
